Roughly 90% of players use Proxi but, well, I don't think that means it's better. It's just easier to run up to someone in sneak and blow up for 9000 damage. Personally I picked the Inevitable one because I don't like running into Zergs looking to be martyred.

Also, it's mostly a PVP ability.

Yeah if your character are design for going into melee range, then proxy is better.
For a hunter/ pure range character, then inevitable.

Most pve you can be close melee even if you are range dps, so proxy for pve.

Proxy is an instant cast which makes a big difference.

    PvE=Proxy

like said above, really depends on your play style. Inevitable Detonation can sometimes be annoying when people are going out of range when casting.

I love popping Inevitable when i'm defending a castle on everyone i can target and see them die :D, but i also like jumping into zergs and die with the time bomb on me

Poxi is considered better by most people especially a DK who can leap into a group and watch it go off just as he lands for a double wammy.

Also a lot of people find that the lag in PvP makes inevitable a *** to cast, the zergs get out of range before the casting finishes. But if your a squishy sorc you don't want to be going toe to toe with people.

In PVP, inevitable is better for those of us that don't wish to run into the middle of an enemy Zerg. I like casting it from range and watching the enemy run for cover away from the guy with cooties

I'm going to be playing through Thieves guild with my vet 16 Magicka templar.

Mostly weave with sweeps for dps.

    Maybe I should go Proxy?

For healing trails Inevitable might be better so I can stay back.

I was playing with inevitable recently. When you can get it to land as part of a timed stack of damage, it's beautiful and deadly. But those silly pvp enemies keep running around and line of sighting instead of holding still for my cast time. Rude.

So I'm going back to proxy. Not so much because I killed more with proxy, but because it tended to help keep players away from me and upped my survivability long enough to kill by other means.

On the other hand in PVE, I have to wade into a dungeon mob to use elemental ring anyway. The insta cast can be just part of my buff routine. Assuming the mob lasts that long.

    YMMV.

I don't like either personally but I feel obliged to carry one in pvp so I slot proxy on my overload bar cos I don't like cast times. I would guess proxy was better for pve too, at least I would prefer it as a sorc in groups of adds/trash.

Proxy. Inevitable would be GREAT if the cast time wasn't so long. (Made worse by lag.) That and Inevitable is near useless on coordinated groups, they just control purge it and no one dies. (Unless you have 5 synced up, and even then.)

In PvE Inevitable is even more useless.

step by step walk through for proxy:

    1. get a mag-cheese-blade build with max damage possible. Get Viscious set. You dont need sustain, youre a suicide bomber.
    2. Buff up
    3. Cast proxy
    4. Cloak ( if your magblade, if not skip to step 5)
    5. lotus fan just before proxy goes off. I like to do it with around 3 seconds left on timer cos lag tends to F me over. ( streak/mist form etc etc all works. basically you want to dive into zergs)
    6. Soul tether (batswarm works too if youre a non magblade vamp).
    7. Spam any version of magicka AOE (if youre not a night blade).
    8. profit

Benchmarking it, I get anywhere between 3k-10k AP with one single successful dive into enemy zergs depending on how organised they are and how soon they are able to react.

Proxy is also really handy on VMA on rounds 5 and 6. On sorc anyway much better than liquid.

I use proxy even for my rangen mag Sorc. I use it as a mobile defensive skill instead og mines, which i can also turn into burst by simply streaking up to the enemy. I find it keeps alot of melee guys away from me. They simply choose a different target when they see that nasty intimidating circle.

I tried running inevitable, but i simply die too often while trying to catch it. 1.8 seconds free DPS is enough for a skilled player to take you down.

Inevitable Det is really good in PvP situations where you proc 2x Kena buff and cast it on a poor guy in a group of enemies. It hurts a lot when it goes off. But yeah, it takes some time to cast.

Inevitable detonation much easier to counter in pvp: target knows exactly when it will blowup, so it have more chances to be blocked, or supressed in other way, as example i prefer - mist form. It works only for sorcs who know what they're doing.

So if you don't know how to use it - proxydet is your choice.
