I thought the thieves guild was supposed to bring a chat box to the console version... I guess it got scrapped?

✭Get your facts right. They never said it will come in Thieves Guild:
"...We've already announced our first two DLC game packs / Updates in 2016: Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood (Q1 and Q2, respectively), and will be working on much more in 2016, including a major change in how world zones treat player character levels. We will also be concentrating on fixes to Cyrodiil server performance, adding text chat to console versions of ESO, and much more...."

I do have some small hope that it might make it into the Dark Brotherhood DLC 3 months from now, but since they just announced it this year and since it takes a lot of time to make a feature that's not a typical standard of communication in an online game on a game console all the information heard from players and possible news sites is going to be rumors and speculation until ZOS says otherwise. Since Thieves Guild has launched, I am hoping they might give some more information on console text chat even a sliver in the upcoming ESO LIVE video done by the community staff this Friday. I would think they will probably need to give some sort of information to reassure players that it is still coming within the next couple of months leading up the next DLC being Dark Brotherhood. Let's just hope and cross our fingers we hear more information soon.0
