Will we ever be able to climb walls like Quen in TG?

I was thinking lately, if there are any plans to enable my character to climb walls, fences etc like the NPC Quen from the Thieves Guild?

In Daggerfall. Maybe in Battlespire (I don't remember). But since then? Nope.

Oh, wait, you meant in the future? Probably not in ESO. Though it wouldn't break things as horrifically as it would in, say, Oblivion or Skryim.

I don't think so... ZOS already has enough trouble keeping us where we're supposed to be and not escaping through the landscape, lol ! :-)

As soon as I saw her climb a wall, I knew people would be asking about this.

It might be neat and all, but what would we be climbing up to? I mean, would they have to introduce quests that use the mechanic? Would they have to redesign the world to give us a reason to climb on top of things? How would this affect the places that have Invisible Walls?

There are a couple of places in the game where we sort of climb up to something, it might be nice to replace that way of doing things for an actual climb. But I do think it might be a lot of work for a niche like activity.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I'm jealous of Quen's ability to do that, however, ZOS seems to be pretty against us climbing anything in this game, even a rock or roof so I doubt it.

That's certainly the first thing I thought when I watched her scamper up there.

It would probably have to use pre-made pathing with an E-interactable sort of thing to work, thus defeating the purpose of being able to climb like a monkey. Fun to watch her, though. Best part of that quest.

Yep, fisrt time I saw her do that I way just like, "Heyyyyy! Why can't I do that dammit???? You shoudl just be able to climb all sorts of places in the game. I don't know why ZOS has this obsession with giving things to NPCs but not player characters when they should know darn well we'd WANT that once we saw it. Happens CONSTANTLY with clothing/armor. It's like they are deliberately mocking us sometimes. But hey, I'm not bitter.

    Okay, I'm bitter.

Personally I always wanted climbing in ESO. Not Quen style at first, but... climbable spots around the game world, and I don't mean the current "interact - fadeout - fadein in new location" stuff we currently have, but actually "moving up the ladder/rope/cliffface"... (with a fall chance if attacked while climbing as well). And the climbing spots of different difficulty, put skill pints in "climbing" skill to unlock (like, say, anyone can climb ladders, but for ropes you need a skill point in there, and for cliff faces two, and castle walls three...)

Oh, well. Maybe they'll refit it someday, though I kinda doubt it... still, its possible I guess.

They wouldn't have to introduce anything at all.

3 minutes after such an ability went live, EVERYBODY would be dyeing their clothing red/black/blue and acting like spiderman's less-nimble-but-also-powered kid.

I've been splitting my time between ESO and Black Desert and I have to say, climbing walls and fences etc is really awesome, parkour FTW!

Ever time I log back into ESO I keep running into walls and rocks thinking I'm gonna climb up em :p

Only if it was usable everywhere.

It is required some preset "climbing spots"... then it would eb the developers decision as to where they put those spots. And they could just not put them into cyrodil...

...but instead add "siege ladders" that put up "temprary climbing spots", but are burn-able like other siege engines, and of course, any hit while climbing them would make you fall off...
    I'd love to see that!

"shortcuts" per say where you need ranks into theives guild passive to take a shorter route would be neat, similar to how runescape (i know but it's a great example) had agility shortcuts over areas that allowed you to save huge amounts of travel time+costs

We shouldn't be asking if we can do it.

We should be asking why inconsistent mechanics like that made it into the game in the first place. It's *** design.

It's a scripted animation sequence. It's the same every time she climbs.

However, I'd love to be able to do that too, just like Assassin's Creed! Unfortunately, it would be a massive undertaking to implement into the existing system, so I don't see it ever happening.

If you jump on an angled rooftop (with those oh so slippery shingles) you slide off without a chance.... I doubt we can climb if we can't even manage this.

Would love to see this implemented in some way though. Even if it's in a single quest in the Dark Brotherhood DLC!

Ever since the first trailer I have wanted siege ladders/towers :)

I think if Quen-style climbing is ever introduced, it would only be in set locations.

If they expand on more Thieves Guild quests or as part of the Dark Brotherhood they should do this. How cool would it be to scale a wall and execute a Prince! That would be fun as hell!

^This, if you think the complaints were bad with the glitches that allowed people to ambush through keep doors or use chains to pull ones self up on walls, just imagine the QQing over people climbing over keep walls in get inside instead of need to siege first.

They could put a limit on the number of people allowed to do it. Or disable it in Cyro. Either way it would work. If a couple people were able to climb in and wreck havoc inside a keep that would be a lot of fun. This could be done IRL so why not add it to the game.

They could even add in a Skill line around it called Saboteur....

    @ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_RichLambert Thoughts???

I'd be happy with acrobatic jumping instead of the "taking a dump in mid air" stance.
