With thieves guild out, they need to increase the spawnrate of safeboxes

There is this one quest that requires you to open up safe boxes, and yet some zones they are not spawning fast enough or at all, they need to increase the drop rate of these. They don't spawn fast enough, this was not a problem before thieves guild because they were not as important, but now they are.

Agreed! I've got recently one in Reaper's March which I thought it would be quick since Rawl'kha has a lot of businesses colar to each Lever and I spent like 30 minutes to find the goddamit chest.

Maybe they nerfed them like they did the troves.

guys, the way safeboxes operate is that for each given city there are a set number of locations where a chest can spawn but less that actually spawn at a given time. So long as there are spawned lockboxes out there, some locations may not spawn at all. So, going from location to location in a given city and checking a whole loop is your best bet to stumble on a lockbox.

I've been mapping lockbox locations for the last year.

I guarantee you when you learn all the locations in a given city and make a wide loop you'll find chests every couple of minutes. I can (in a city I know well like Windhelm, with little competition) loot 30-40 lockboxes an hour.

I hope this helps. I personally don't think safeboxes need a boost in respawn timers. Really the game just needs to do a better job of explaining how chests spawn (though I suppose thats pretty immersion breaking).

No need. I did those quests and only ran into some issues twice, both times when someone was doing routes farming all the boxes in an area I was unfamiliar with. If you can't find the boxes in each zone's capital, try one of the smaller cities. There are boxes there too, and they typically are farmer-free.
  • spainchaudub17_ESO
Even the smaller cites are bing farmed out. I am in Glenumbra right now, hitting all the spawn spots. I see noone else getting the safeboxes, but I have found none after 30 min.

I farmed safeboxes before the trove nerf, and never had a problem. They broke something.

You're in luck! The spawn rate of safeboxes is going to be adjusted with Monday's incremental patch for exactly the reasons you all listed.

I've been abandoning the one quest on the board if it says to loot a safebox and try the board again until I get a pickpocket one.

This is good news, as it will speed up leveling Thieves Guild on my alts.

BTW Gina, do you work 7 days a week or what?

Oh thank goodness. Now if you could "adjust" the trove spawns up, that would be great.

I agree with @Contraptions here. The rate on Thieves' Troves is now basically nil, I haven't seen a single one since the incremental patch despite looking quite a bit. It's like they've been removed from the game entirely.

They did spawn a bit too often before, yes, but how they are now is far too little in my opinion.

Maybe just increase the total number of spawns in a zone at one time 10-20%

I agree, they do need more troves and a higher drop rate, and if you could make sure that there's not a permanent NPC presence near the troves, facing them, that'd be even better.

It's really annoying, the trove at the docks at Bleakrock has one NPC fisher by it, and they *never* take their eyes off off that boat.

What is the point of placing a trove somewhere where you will gain a bounty for even touching it, 100% of the time?

    Risk vs reward i guess?

Risk is one thing, but risk also means there is a chance to get away clean, but if you go for the trove I mentioned, that will *never* happen as you are 100% dead certain to be spotted at *any* time you go for it, so there's really no point, it's a wasted trove that should never've been put in such a location in the first place.

There's something else they could do, to improve the chance of not being detected; make sure that thieves troves (and possibly safe boxes?), when interacted with, are like stealing from any other cache or object.

As things stand now, interacting with a trove automatically takes you out of stealth.

If they fixed that, they could keep the Bleakrock one where it is (up until you interact with it, when you're in that boat near the trove, you're pretty well stealthed), and add more troves to city/town/settlement buildings.

I don't know what the situation is though with safe boxes, though I do know that locked chests can be interacted with in stealth mode, safely, unless you're spotted trying to unlock it.

You can stealth-pick a safebox the same as a treasure chest or any other container.

Good to know, now it's only the troves that need to be brought into line there.
