I'm so sick of these complaints

If you want to level to max in no time, play another game.

I personally enjoy the long grinds. It's what keeps me playing. If I could accomplish everything in a week what's to keep me Playing?

I've read this a few times and it made me nervous I'd be stuck grinding at some point. It never happened, I'm not sure why. When the highest level mats were void stuff I was doing three writs almost every day, provisioning, enchanting and clothing, but other than that, only questing. And I mean only; I've only just started doing group dungeons relatively recently. Without doing Craglorn, only stepping into the first quest of TG and with half of Bankorai left to finish, my sorc hit v16 a while ago. It's gotta be the writs just adding up, it was the only thing I did really consistently when I was playing other toons besides her.
    May all beings have happiness
May they be free from suffering
May they find the joy that has never known suffering
May they be free from attachment and hatred

My current alt is V7 in a V4 zone. Meaning, by the time I finish the last gold zone, I should be at least VR14, leaving the two new zones to do the rest of my leveling. Got 3 levels above the zone by doing all the quests and delves. Yet to do fighters/mage guild quests too.

First time through this game, had exactly the same experience as you OP (without your frustration), because I missed side quests in each zone.

Yeah, I'm surprised he lacked XP. If he completed everything, the only reason I can see for only being v12 is that he is one of those run past all the mobs to get to next part of quest people. I remember a ton of those in delves at launch. At least it made sense then when you could camp delve bosses. Now it is just wasted XP.

Grinding from vet 13 to vet 16.

After I was done the Cadwell's gold and the expansion stories I was at vet 12. Took me very long to get to vet 13 because I was well you know playing the game normally.

Thought I should speed things up a bit so I bought some xp scrolls and went grinding. Omg that was the most tedious annoying and boring 6 hours of my life.
Why is grinding like that supposed to be a thing?? Why not have the fun parts of the game give much more XP so i can be enjoying the game and progressing the same time??

I really wanted to create multiple characters and level them up, but the way this game is... no way in hell!!

I know they plan to remove vet ranks, but I sure as hell hope they don't replace it with something simillar. Oh and please remove them asap, they are just a usless waste of time that don't add any fun to the game, but drives people away!!!

Why is getting to v16 a goal? I ask, because removing vet ranks might not make the difference you expect it to make. If you want to be v16 to wear top level gear, even without vr, a new player would still need to get enough CP for top level gear. That would mean grinding CP instead of VP, but it would still mean leveling without content.

I'm just curious -- how much CP do you have now that you just hit v16? I am also surprised you were only vet 12 after fininshing all content. They have made a lot of adjustments to the game, decreasing XP requirements at vet levels and increasing XP. 8 vr per Cadwell zone is very possible. Did you avoid mobs as you did the quests, or did you kill everything in sight? Leaving a trail of corpses helps. I have an alt who was already vet 4 when they decreased XP requirements but is already v10 in the second Cadwell's Gold zone. She hadn't done any DLC. She also hasn't done any vet dungeons and is missing a lot of non-vet dungeons.

By the way, at launch, you would have been only v10 upon completing Cadwell's Gold. And there would be no DLC. There were better grinding spots though.

I have another v2 character so i got a bit from him, but i am at 220 aprox.

So that is way past the cutoff for v16 gear when it moves to CP tiers. You might have had enough CP at v12 to make that cutoff, so getting rid of VR probably would have saved you from that grind.

Dang. I only have about 253 and I have a v16, a v10, a v2, and a v1. Plus, I've had my v16 for a bit and quite a few of my CP are from doing stuff at v16 with that character.

My v16 was v10 when they added CP. I guess they really shafted people with the CP they gave out back then because it wasn't all scaled for enlightenment and the catchup mechanism.

While not always applicable in everyone's case, you do get an XP bonus when you have a party member.

My understanding is that you get something like a 15% XP bonus with one party member, a 15% XP penalty with two party members, and not sure what three party members results in.

I could easily be mistaken, especially where numbers are concerned. But I will say that I did nearly all of the content with my sister, and we were just barely outpacing the area level (usually by 1 or 2 levels) as we approached the end of each one. We continued this pattern, and are now at VR16 with the last two parts of Cadwell's Gold to complete.

So, I guess, find a buddy?

There are some quests in Cyro such as towns, delves, anchors that give some xp. They don't give a lot of it, but it is interesting to try to do them while you are trying to avoid enemies.

I leveled up a char from VR1 to VR7 in Cyro sometime ago. It took me a month doing most those quests and it was kind of fun to find enemies in the meantime. It helps you a lot to pay more atention to everything around you (specially if the quest is located in the enemy faction zone).

At the end, what makes a good player is not the VR level he has, but the xp he gets on the battlefield.

Those used to pay out with a lot. I went from VR10-14 in a couple days, earning the Cyrodiil PvE achievements.

Nope. I didn't want to spend crowns on it, and figured I would save that mechanic for marrying "Mr. Right." Which didn't end up happening, and I'm VR16 now, so mechanically there's no longer any point.

I never understand how someone's main objective in ESO is to reach V16. Like it is so important the rest of the game means nothing to them, other than to get to the highest level. They'll drive themselves nutz trying to do it faster than anyone else even.
I am now at V4 with one of my characters.(I dumped my original one who was also at V4) And I only got there by accident.I didnt try,it just happened.
I dont want to ruin my game mind set by grinding myself to death.

If you do all the quest + all dungeons (and quests there)+all delves+all anchors+all world bosses then you surely don't need to grind. I'm pretty sure you skipped some of that. There was enough quests without thieves guild and orsinium, now with 2 more locations it shouldn't be a problem.

Also, the last time I had "the worst 6 hours of my life", it involved the local police, a forklift, Taco Bell, and bad decisions

Big evil I feel your pain I blasted through the cadwells silver and gold and finished up on a toon at vr6 that was a crock of poop. but I did that to myself. As soon as I was done They nerfed Spellscar. whhhhhyyyyyyyy arrrghh the frustration all I needed was one more day just 24 hours hold the hotfix plox plox plox. In grief my cat jumped off of a cliff and killed himself. the next two characters learned from mr fuzzy's death and took their time and finished at vr10 with only 4 left to grind. I will not pass up anymore dolmens on future builds. Those generals become more difficult to find at VR levels past 10 it seems.

Now go have fun raid all of Nirn!!!! and go kill some guards !!!!
