Game will not start since last patch (incorrect direct x version)

mjstevenson1.msb16_ESO
Since the last patch I have been unable to start the game. I get Incorrect Direct X version. I have been playing this game since I was a beta tester and had no problems. I run win 10. I have downloaded the latest direct x and installed it 5 times. no luck. I have uninstalled the whole game and redoanloaded the whole thing and installed it 5 times. no luck. eso does not reply and there site only says to reinstall direct x and if that does not work to check if my system meets the game requirements which it does and has done so since the beginning. They have no other info after that which is really useless information as it is not helpful in the least. I had the very version of direct x before I started as I do now but the game will not run and ESO gives no support. This only became a problem after the last update. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Does your graphics card support DX11 if it doesn't that is your problem.

Since Thieves Guild ESO no longer works with DX9 or DX10. :(
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

No I have a Nvidia gtx 295 but my laptop also does not have it and has a lower video card than that, but it plays fine on the laptop. the laptop is even older and my wife plays all the time with no issues. It has a Nvidia gtx 460m.

GTX 295 is not dx 11 compatible.

GTX460M is higher than a GTX 295 as far as feature support goes - the 460 is a DX11 capable GPU, the 295 is not.

In a way it does, but since all PCI Express GPUs must be lane-backward compatible back to version 1.0 of the bus lane, you can pick up a more modern GPU that supports the feature sets to run this game, even if the GPU itself will only express the best performance in a PCI Express version 3.0 lane.

You don't even have to spend a ton of money to do this, either, and it is safe to invest in a DX11 capable card as DX12 requirement games are years off into the future yet.
