can I cap my character to 49 or 50 just to stay to non veteran alliance?

Nope, but you can stay in non-vet forever if you never log off after getting to VR1 ...

If your logged in, you will stay. But, once you fall asleep, in the real world, for more than 10 minutes or so, then the game will auto log you out, then when you log back in, you will have to join a Vet Campaign.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

What happens after a year of non-stop playing? You are a small withered up little thing sitting at your PC going,

I have one in there right now and another waiting in the wings for when the current one levels out.
What some people do and what I'm considering when we can buy character slots is make a dedicated BWB character and when it gets to 50, delete and make another. Since I have vet characters and crafters to cover gear and expenses, it's not a big deal.

BWB is just too much fun to pass up or leave behind.

Come to the Vet campaigns man. It's not that scary. Running around Cyrodiil the day after launch in a Vet campaign as a level 10 was a blast. It was literally the only time I got gold rewards cause I had the week off.

I've never set foot in a non vet campaign. Must be very different I guess.
