Where to buy a new rig

Traditionally have used dell and HP. I currently have a 3 yr old computer with a 500 series gtx nvidia card. Budget not really an issue but I dont want to over pay either..ideally looking no more than like 1300.

Id like a set up that would handle ESO on high settings, and also run BDO (and ARK survival would be nice but not a deal breaker)

dell and hp price a newer desktop at about 1200 (gtx 970, i6, 8 or 16gb ram i cant recall). i dont need a monitor, mouse or keyboard and im not buying parts and assembling myself. Is there someplace else online to shop or some other setup thatll be a bigger bang for my bucks? Id like this to last another 2 or 3 yrs before replacing again. thanks

If you're not adverse to a little DIY, I use this site: https://pcpartpicker.com/.

It will do compatibility checks between the different components you pick and let you customize everything down to the CPU fans. Lots of fun!

building a pc these days is alot easier than say 10yrs ago, alot of questions can be answered through googling or Toms hardware website.

I built my first ever PC about 18 months ago. It's shockingly simple. All you really need to do is make sure your parts you purchase are compatible (which is basically checking to see if your motherboard supports an Intel chip or an AMD chip, and which socket type within that).

Otherwise, it's really only just a matter of snapping a couple pieces together. Entire building process took me a little over an hour, including cable management. Tweaking the BIOS options and then installing the OS took a bit longer, but that's because I chose to overclock.

Check out YouTube videos and enthusiast websites. LinusTechTips on YT has a number of entire videos devoted to 'how to build' your PC. Do a bit of research and you'll actually get far better components and a better build for the same amount you'd spend on a pre-built.

If you're really not interested in that, then I'd say the rig you picked out was pretty good. . .though, if you said budget wasn't a huge issue, I'd seriously recommend looking into something with a better GPU, and probably a better CPU as well. I'm not a big fan of AMD lately, since they seem to keep falling further behind Intel in nearly every major measurable category.

Ha! Guess my timing was off tonight. Nice purchase, though, that's a pretty solid PC.

This new rig of yours is missing something crucial; something it is unthinkable now of days to build a high end gaming PC without. A solid state drive.

    SSD=Solid State Drive
HDD= Hard Drive/ Hard Disk Drive

    Something like these:
    Samsung EVO 850 M.2
    PNY CS1311 SATA
    OCZ Trion 150 SATA

An SSD is several times more responsive (latency/seek times) than an HDD that also achieves much higher bandwidth throughput. For every day PC use it makes your computer feel like it's on nitrous and it has even been shown to reduce the amount of "hitching" in gameplay.

Hitching is what it looks like when a character in a game is moving faster than the environment around the player can be loaded by the HDD and so the GPU duplicates frames to keep up the FPS. This results in what looks like skippy/jerky gameplay.

Since a solid state drive costs more per gigabyte many people will install the Operating System and Programs to the solid state drive because they're most sensitive to seek times. And then media like pictures, videos, and music get stored on a separate hard drive since they don't really benefit much from being on a SSD vs being on an HDD.

I got my current PC from these guys and it's great and it was the best rig I could get for the price. I got one of their best 2015 models which had the i5 6600k OCed to 4.5 and an OCed GTX970 and it cost me just over £800. I would recommend taking a look as they do some cheaper models and you can change around the builds to suit your budget.

I would recommend going for the coolmaster CPU cooler and slightly better thermal paste as it really helps as they will overclock your PC if you want them to.

this will have the cheapest option to start from as it's set price even if the parts go up in price due to being reviewed

If you do go down the route of building your own PC their builds will help a lot with what you should be looking at but I'd 100% recommend these guys for a good value gaming PC.
