Also please have a source to back your answer up. Spell crafting looked amazing and want to know if zenimax has been working on it.

Spellcrafting is on the back burner for now. It is a fun and interesting system, but it is not in our current plans to bring it to you in the coming year. We really like the design and what it contributes to the game, though, so we will do what we can in the future to make it happen and do it right.

Spell crafting was mentioned back in 2014, as was thieves guild, and we just got that, so it's possible.
It would be interesting to see how it works, but I predict a lot of butthurt players complaining about it and it'll probably be nerfed into the ground.
Thing is, wouldn't it go against the class system? What keeps me from crafting badass heals for my sorc and basically turning him into a templar, or is it perhaps an attempt to bridge the gap between classes and make it more like skyrim where you can be anything/everything?
You just going to stand there like a lemon?

Last seen was on an ESO Live, they said it was on the back burner, so it hasn't been entirely trashed. The dev that was in charge of it, Nick Konkle left some time ago.

If you want to go hunt through all the episodes to find it, gl. I'm not going to.

I would prefer to have spellcrafting rather than classes tbh, It would have felt more ES, and been much better and fun imo.
Putting it on the back burner was definitely sad to hear.

Yeah one of the last ESO Lives I stomached they mentioned they put it to the side. Not coming in the short term.

Spellcrafting goes back to ES Daggerfall. I never felt it took away the point of character classes. You would still have class-based passives to set one type apart from another.

What I wouldn't want to see is all passives available to all classes, then there would no point to a particular class.

Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Depending on how it's implemented, it would be more skills for all classes, but it wouldn't fully supplant the existing class options.

In ESO Live, he mentioned that they really want to get balance with the current skill set worked out better before adding any more active skills (hence all passives from TG) or spell crafting.

Honestly though, I don't know if they'll ever get to a place where they're 100% happy about every single skill. It will be interesting to see what happens with Dark Brotherhood. I imagine they won't be able to get away with another totally passive skill set. Who knows when/if they'll ever actually get around to spell crafting. It would likely be much more limited than Oblivion's model.

Skills either inflict or heal / prevent / mitigate damage. Factor in cost and cast times and the balance solution could be formulaic.

Except for the fact that ESO has classes and racial passives in the mix. And for some crazy reason both healing and damage scale from the same stat.

Ditch classes, racial passives, magicka / stamina scaling and have separate stats for spell damage and defence / healing. Then all abilities could be balanced in their own right without having to consider how they interact with specific class / race combos.

Not based on either what they've explicitly told us about their plans or datamining.
