veteran rank leveling

ng2084b14_ESO
If u are veteran rank 6 can you still kill veteran rank 1 enemies and get same xp as when u are veteran rank 1.

Or is it like regular leveling enemies below 6 levels wont give xp?

The lowest rank enemy that you can kill that will give you the max xp is 5 levels below you. So you would have to kill vet 2 enemies to get max benefit. You will still get xp for killing enemies at v1 but just not as much. I've noticed that I still get xp from killing v1 enemies even though I'm v16. It's not much but it's something. I normally use my v16 toons and kill v1 mobs while using soul trap to fill my empty grand soul gems quicker.

Game has changed in one of the recent patches !

My Vet 16 character gets XP for killing level 45 enemies in Coldharbor
(grinding Zombies for the Akatosh set)

For enemies at level 44 no XP are given. (50 minus 6 is 44 and 6 is just outside that range of 5)

My conclusion is that Vet 16 is already considered by ZOS as level 50 (before Vet removal is fully implemented)

Just bring your character to VR1. Once VR is removed, it really won't make a difference

Vet Ranks have always been considered Level 50 when it comes to the 5 level XP difference, and VR 16 characters have always received XP from Level 45 mobs.

The rest of the VR XP differences work like this:
    • You will receive full XP credit for monsters 1-3 ranks below you.
    • You will receive 75% of XP for monsters 4 ranks below you.
    • You will receive 30% of XP for monsters 5 ranks or more below you.
So once you are VR5, mobs at VR2 and below will grant less XP, but since Level 45 is within 5 levels of 50, you still get something from them.

But then what just sit there with minimal champ points? Fine for people at cap.

@crislevin Specifically the VR percentage numbers, Patch Notes 1.5.4, FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS > Combat & Gameplay > Monsters.

I can't find a source for the 5-level drop-off, but this is a known value and is easily testable in-game.

For Vet Ranks being considered layers on Level 50, this can be shown in-game using the API functions GetUnitLevel(player), GetUnitVeteranRank(player) and GetUnitEffectiveLevel(player) for any VR character not in a battle-levelled or scaled zone.

    Thanks @Enodoc , for the clarification :)
