It seems that the base speed while running forward by pressing W (or whatever joystick on console) is the max speed you can move while jumping. Rapids and sprinting are not affecting the speed your characters moves while jumping, and they seem to just turn off when you do jump, then back on when you hit the ground. This is not applying to jumping while mounted.
