Prepping for VR Removal - thinking about gear

At somepoint not too long from now any of my alts that hit 50 will be qualified for V16 gear (since I have enough CP). To me the issue will be that I won't have enough cool gear for all that I want to play. I'll have folks wearing V4 gear just cause I ran out, or I'll be swapping out my 1 cool Medium Stam or light Mag set between alts, stripping my main & running to the bank anytime I want to play an alt.
So now I'm focusing on:
- Getting a couple of more key alts to V16 so they can get drops of certain sets I like.
- Grinding crafting on a few, since NOW I have to have the crafting level at 50 to get the mats (or else buy them or run a lower level alt crafting alt around just to farm mats)

What are y'all doing along these lines or instead?

    I have 3 VR16s and a VR14, so my goals are:
    1) Get other characters to level 50
    2) Use grinding with main to gather tons of mats and dropped sets

I am only 4 CP away from cap, so I have a lot more time for the other stuff. My main maxed all crafting long ago, so I can make any craftable set/glyph out there.

I'm not too concerned about it. I figure Zenimax will give us advanced warning of what the changes to gear will be, plus I'm on the PS4 so I will have a few weeks from when the update goes live on the PC to prepare for it.

I've already got all my crafting supplies ready to make v16 gold armour for all my v16s for when the TG update comes out.

I have 4 VR16s. While they have VR16 weapons, I see no need to put them in VR16 armor so not sure if I ever will do that.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Since I have all the gear and mats I want. I have no need to farm for items. Which was my incentive and drive to play eso since I'm over CP cap. So my new goal in game is to have all my toons be at max level. I do have 9 v16 toons. But 3 of them are on my second account (was my son's account but he quit playing after 4-5 months of launch. So I have 2 more toons left on my main account to get to max. Plus it's another way to gain CP (even though I'm over cap) while leveling a new toon. Instead of just getting CP from gaining xp on maxed toons.

I think its safe to assume that if and when VR removal is coming....we would have an outline....so as it stands....if they do it for real in 2016 (even tho they said earlier) I'd be happy to read specifics by August 2016

#ZOS I have lost all faith in things rolling out on time as far as VR removal goes.

I have 2 VR16s, each of which currently has 3 different VR16 sets of gear (1 each for DPS, healing, and tanking - both characters have a signficant amount of overlap between their respective healing and DPS gear sets though, so it's not really 3 full sets of VR16 gear).

I expect that my other 8 characters on this account will need a minimum of 2 gear sets each when they effectively become VR16 (although again, I expect there to be some overlap between some gear sets), as I like to be able to do more than one role on any given character (I'm not planning on trying to do stamina healers though, so my stamina characters will only have 2 gear sets each, while the other magicka ones will have 3 each).

A couple of months ago I working on getting all 8 of these characters to 50/50/50 in the equipment crafting skills, with enough skill points in them to do max level gear. This is partly so that each of them can gather max level mats when in zones like Wrothgar, and partly so that all of their hirelings bring only max level mats. I'm working on building up a good stockpile for the day when I need to craft a whole bunch of new max-level gear (at the moment I think I'm sitting on about 4-6 stacks each of rubedite, ancestor silk, rubedo leather, and ruby ash).

I'm also doing what I can on my VR16s to get dropped VR16 sets that I think I'd like to use on at least one of my characters. For example, I've got several full sets of VR15-16 Briarheart and Trinimac. I'm working on getting more so that everything will (hopefully) be at VR16 and with traits that I like.

I just want to know if crafted items become affected. Such as 9 trait items will they require a monstrously high level of CP to wear? My customers are generally low level cp guys who don't play enough to grind out research. It would make sense but it would suck at the same time.

I think it is based on the material it is made out of, not which set.

Wouldn't be a grind if ZOS oh I don't know ........ maybe reduce the cost of VR16 gear to a normal amount instead of 10X that of VR15.

But oh that would make set farmers butthurt cause their gear is so hard to get and so under powered compared to crafted sets.

It's probably too much to ask, but it would be awesome if some of the old dropped set gear scaled to your CP level with some sort of upgrade process. It would revitalize old set gear, add gear diversity, and you'd still have some sort of grind/gold sink to do the upgrades as you leveled.

This is a question that I hope gets answered in the coming weeks. What happens to the sets that were never scaled to v16?

IMO it would be great if all the sets are on equal footing and not gimped by the stats you can apply to them. There are some really cool sets that dont even make the conversation bc they were never scaled past v10. Options are good, and I think that is the appeal of ESO, so more of a good thing please.

I personally dont think that this would deter people from trying to acquire the new sets as long as the DB sets are worth being acquired.

They will probably introduce 2 new tiers of gear with Dark Brotherhood, lol. Of course we won't call them VR17/18, but effectively that's what it'll be.

They have made VR15/16 mats more abundant with every update. The next logical step is to make them worthless.

My guess is that when they drop Vet Ranks they'll increase the CP cap and add another tier of gear. So current V16 gear will be 160cp gear and they'll add a 200cp+ or higher tier of gear for everyone to grind for. I doubt very much that they would only have CP has a means of progression in the game.

What is going to happen with sets like Soulshine, Warlock etc ?
