✭They don't have the tech to execute this. Just because Microsoft announced it (they've been working on this a while) doesn't mean ZOS allocated resources to make it happen.
I highly doubt shard servers can handle three different platforms communicating anyways. They can't even handle one platform.
If it was possible it would make sense to cross server all areas of the game, not segregate.1 -

It would require a huge amount of effort and one off agreement with Playstation and Microsoft which realistically isn't going to be happening too.
Lol, I'm sure you'll see a comment or two bashing Zenimax about the potential lag soon too regarding a cross platform idea which isn't even theirs.1 -
flguy147ub17_ESO✭✭✭✭✭Zos needs to focus on making this game the best it can be instead of putting tons of resources in cross platform. I have played both on PC and PS4 and PC gamers would definitely have an advantage due to controls and add ons.1

And even so, the controls would still offer much more versatility and an obvious advantage.
Account transferring/ copying will break the economy, but messin' the economy is fun so it's okay.... Mai cave. >:30 -

I don't think that this would be impossible. I wouldn't be surprised if the server for the XB1 was running almost exactly the same software as the PS4 server. There may be a little stuff for dealing with the PSN/XBL Validation/Stores etc, but the actually game related stuff should be the same.
In which case it would be a matter of just merging the databases. This would be difficult, but not impossible. Usernames could be given namespaces. There can be PS:Username and an XB:Username. Characters with the same name could have their names stripped, and forced to be re-named on startup. whoever gets to their account first gets to keep their name.
But, I don't see it being high on ZoS' list of priorities.
