Streams are only as good as the material they have to work with. If streamers play games that crash, have broken skills, broken mechanics, terrible balance, and tons of lag, they will get frustrated and it reduces the entertainment value of the stream for everyone watching.

PvP in this game has the potential to become an e-sport. It is fun and dynamic to watch when it actually works. If you haven't seen them, watch Lefty Lucy's series where he casts the Top 5 PvP battles of the week. Lefty has made some amazing content that highlights the best of ESO PvP. But those battles are the small nuggets of gold within the piles of excrement the PvP community has to wade through every day. Watching PvP and the PvP community slowly die off and become bitter is one of the worst things I have ever experienced in my gaming career. Watching friends get so bitter and hopeless because ZOS won't even acknowledge problems in PvP that they move on to other games and other things. I still keep the majority of them on my friends lists even thought they haven't signed on in months in hopes that they will come back some day.

Can you really blame the streamers for going to play other games that actually work? Other games that actually have enough pride in their work not to leave game breaking bugs to frustrate players daily for months or even years? Other games that actually have a design phillosophy and stick to it instead of going back on what they said every time to extract more cash out of the playerbase? Those games exist and more are coming soon. The competition is only going to get harder for ESO. The ball is in ZOS's court and blaming the streamers for streaming the games they want to play just because ESO kickstarted their career is just silly.

    can you blame them ?

i find myself logging in less and less these days.. especially with this new dlc that really didnt do anything but make logging in more of a hassle.. i get that problems might occur. but the game is olready riddled with issues and having a week of worse performance issues and crashes ontop of it was the icing on the cake.

the only thing i did this week was going through abah's landing and had loads of times where i had to do the same quest 3 times in a row before i finally got a diffrent quest or got a level up to continue the main quest.. wasnt fun at all.

went to cyrodiil once and immediatly got struck with 900 ms and a map that required me to walk for 20 minutes before even beeing able to actually fight someone.

than theres this thing called balance.. look at proxy det.. its supposed to be a zerg buster. but even in a 1v1 it takes up to 90% of another guys health away.. cant really call that balanced now can you ?
and that ontop of them only having focused on magica this dlc.

i know alot of people are enjoying the game but the pvp part of it has been a mess for way to long and theres doesnt seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel..

Theyre current system is set up in idiotic way so that power creeps are always rewarded, add in the fact of things like that one class spec are most used because the most survivable and strongest for a duration (mag sorc have the longest streak of anyone for both pvp and pve).

The other is also that they dont bother getting more servers, to at least decrease the amount of traffic forced down a single wedge, causing lag and crashes.

The ton of useless abilities, and broken skills. It was always a matter of time before they see the pattern and go, F**k this crap, might aswell find a game with a lower portion of disfunctional gameplay, a better server and a whole lot less of crashes.
Wish that it wasnt so, but wishes are not reallity.

I never really got into the whole watching people live stream thing. Unless it was to check out a game to see if I wanted to buy it, I haven't bothered. If I'm interested enough in a game, I'd rather play it than watch it.

But to each his own I guess. It just surprises me how many people want to watch other people play instead of playing the game themselves.

Yes they will remove anything you say negative about the twitch streamers.

Why that is... well it's obvious why they think they need to protect them.

Reality is that the "streamers" don't amount to a hill of beans. None of the ESO streamers are making squat, unless some of them have weaseled you into paying a monthly subscription to their channel. They get a split with twitch over monthly paid subs. Last I looked none of the eso twitchers had nearly enough to call it income.

I think they overstate their importance and ZOS believes it.

I guess the problem with it all is certain guys went from being helpful to the community to trying to monetize their gaming addiction. They need to build a following to ever make any sort of money...

I feel the same way. I can't watch people playing video games unless I find the specific person doing it entertaining. I don't give a damn if the person is good at the game or bad at it: it's about whether they entertain me. Most of them, even if they're great people and/or great at whatever they're playing, don't entertain me.

That's a little bit different. If you're sitting at home in front of a computer (which is where you'd be if you're watching a streamer) then it's really easy to just start playing a video game yourself instead of watching someone else play. With sports you have to actually get enough people physically together in the same place at the same time to play, you have to secure a place to play, often pay rink fees or something similar, get your gear together, and of course you have to be at least somewhat physically in shape and able to play. Speaking for myself a lot of my friends play hockey, and I often go down to the rink to watch them and drink beer (there's always a lot of that going on), but I don't play because I've got a bad neck injury that causes me constant pain, and I can't risk playing any sport where there's a chance I could aggravate it.

Professional sports of today evolved from gambling venues. Some would argue they are still gambling venues.

A lot of people compare watching streamers to watching sports, but they are very different beasts.

I have enjoyed watching some organized online gaming events. It can be fun to watch top competitors go head to head. But some guy fighting random players all night? Zzzzz.

@UrQuan Let us not pretend it is that easy to shoot up whatever game you are watching. Like sports maybe you don't have the gear, the money nor the people to play with. Of course they are not exactly the same but as you can see it is more similar than you think.

My point is this: Just because you can't seem to understand why people enjoy something you don't does not mean that it is senseless nor all that surprising if you reflect on it.
As someone said: different strokes for different folks. You just have to learn to look at it from another perspective.

I think they overstate their importance and ZOS believes it.

I guess the problem with it all is certain guys went from being helpful to the community to trying to monetize their gaming addiction. They need to build a following to ever make any sort of money...

Um siffer just got a donate of $2000... Guess you could say he isn't making much money.

I feel bad for any person who feels the need to donate large amounts of money to a streamer. Especially that amount of money. Why would you wanna pay someone to watch them play a game?

I like to think folks watch me for some small part of my personality, sure as hell ain't for my looks, unless they like cats.

As for ESO streamers making it big and leaving, it's going to happen unfortunately. ESO is a niche game, a small pond where new streamers can sometimes thrive because they share a bit of inside information they got. Some will grow away from ESO while others had no intention to stay; just looking for a fan base to exploit and leave once they got their value from the community.

So how can you tell if they care about ESO and aren't exploitative? It's hard, but ask a few questions:
    - Are they being positive about things?
    - Are they offering up criticism and feedback on the forums?
    - Are they producing content for the community (Note: producing is not the same as participating)?
    - Are they partnered and still playing ESO?
    - Do they seem like they are enjoying themselves or is it complaint, complaint, complaint.
    - If they are complaining, do they seem reasonable? (I.E. "this lag sucks" is reasonable in PVP)
    - Do they have a schedule of what & when they play with ESO listed?

You can probably add more to this, but answering yes to almost any of these show that they care about the game to some degree. If most if it is "no", or has shifted to no over time, they may be here farming views because they can't make it elsewhere. What's really repugnant are the ones that never produce an thing positive & then ride the coat tails of other streamers or get hosted by ZOS just to bash the game while they support them. I won't name names, but we all know one of the first ESO reviews was a made as click bait using the beta access and community complaints, with no care about the actual game.

On a side note, I always hope when the new MMOS come out they will be successful & some of these negative streamers will leave. But between blade & souls mediocre release and most now realizing that BDO is an eastern MMO grindfest I keep seeing others return like nothing happened. Which is almost twice as funny when they vou "never to return", but I guess with only a dozen or so viewers it got kinda lonely? Eh, oh well, enjoy your time.

This is farther than any truth about ESO streamers. They don't care for the game they just wanna make easy money.

THIS^ Exactly the problem right there. You can't blame someone for trying to stomach a game when it has issues and when some get fixed they introduce these huge changes that implement a ton of others that weren't even on their test servers to begin with.
