Difference between buying a DLC or just being ESO plus?

So.. ive noticed that being ESO Plus gives u acces to all the DLCs at once.. right?
why would someone prefer to buy 1 DLC than to be ESO plus and have all the DLCs?
what's the difference?

The difference is that when you buy a DLC outright you have access to it forever (or until the game eventually shuts down the servers). If you subscribe to ESO+ you have access only while you're a subscriber.

So if you plan on subscribing indefinitely, there's really no reason to buy any DLCs. Conversely, if you don't plan on maintaining a subscription and a DLC comes out that you think you want to buy, the smart thing to do is subscribe to ESO+ for one month to try out the DLC before making your decision about whether to buy it, and if you do decide it's worth owning then the 1500 crowns you got with your 1 month subscription can go towards the cost of the DLC.

Being a subscriber/plus member is more expensive than just buying crowns to pay for unlocking DLC.
However, as a subscriber, you get the bonus +10% XP and 10% reduction in research times.

plus eventually a crafting material bag with infinite capacity - seen long-term an ESO+ membership makes sense, given that you are willing to spend crowns on the crown store and want to play all the DLCs or most of them. If you do not consider to buy items from the crown store other than DLCs, it might be cheaper to just buy those DLCs you want - but if you expect to play most of the upcoming DLCs in the next years, it will be cheaper to go for ESO+ membership.

ESO plus gives you the 10% experience, inspiration and research time buff with full access to all dlc content right away with a 50/50 chance of receiving 1,500 crowns each month.

Just thought I'd add the ACTUAL ESO plus benefits in there.

My advice if you're new to the game is get the ESO plus subscription for the first month and test all the dlcs from there then stop the subscription before the next auto payment and buy the dlcs you like.

The 10% increase was nice, plus you get 1500 crowns for $15. However now that I've hit cap I have no reason to keep up my subscription so I really don't know when I'll be a plus member again. Probably never if they're only increasing the cap in 51 point increments.

50/50 chance of receiving 1,500 crowns each month.
dafaq u talking about? ESO+ members get 1.500 Crowns per month they sub, at the moment they pay for it.
(I for one, get 9k crowns every 6 months.)

I've heard of multiple people not receiving their crowns on the day they subscribed and have heard from others that they have received 3000 crowns from their subscription.

I am not sure it is cheaper over the long to subscribe. I really think it comes out about even or maybe a little cheaper to just buy the DLC.

But if you like the perks then the ESO+ is worth it.

This, there is no randomness in this - 9000 crowns immediately after you subbed for 6 months.

Not everyone is getting their crowns. Some of us have to open a support ticket every month just to receive them or get ignored and do not receive them at all. Feel free to view the many threads regarding this issue. Perhaps 50/50 is a little off but is everyone getting their promised crowns? No.

I made a comment about the benefits of ESO+ seen long term - I will just repost it, because I do not know how to make the exact link to this comment. Here it is:

Long term ESO plus makes a lot of sense - let's say you are going to play for 3 years and then stop playing by whatever reason. Let's further assume that an average DLC will cost 2500 crowns. If you use the 6-month subscription those 3 years will cost you roughly 396€. Now what do you get for this money spent?
access to DLCs worth 30,000 crowns - for new DLCs
access to DLCs which are already live worth 5500 crowns
    a supply of 54,000 crowns
some extras like 10% XP bonus, a crafting bag and whatever ZOS will add to ESO plus in future

So you got access to content worth at least 89,500 crowns, if you used your subscription crowns in full. This means that content worth 5500 crowns costed you 24.33€. While if you buy and do not subscribe, 5500 crowns cost you 35€. That you own those DLCs then is irrelevant, because when you stop playing their value becomes zero, just like when ending a sub.

You see?- Long term ESO plus membership is well worth it.

Approximately 180 dollars a year to sub. 180 dollars would buy you 38500 crowns today. Average 10000 crowns a year for DLCs you get three years worth of DLCs for one year of sub money.

it is just 150 dollars per year with 6-months subscriptions. If it is just about the DLC and not much of the other crown store content, then non-subbing is better, that is correct. But once you tend to buy other stuff from the crown store, it is no longer.

i noticed in store that you get 1500 crowns a month for subbing?
if so, subbing now for full access then later if you cancel, you can buy DL content with your crowns
    that make sense?
