Dx11, dx11.1, or dx11.2

chowgarguy
Now that Zos has broken my game and forced me to fix it by buying a graphics card worth 4 to 5 times what I paid for the game itself, I'm trying to figure out if Dx11 support will be enough, or will I need Dx11.1 or Dx 11.2?

Frankly, I don't know the difference and I feel like if I just get the DX11 card, they'll just release another hot mess, er... "fix" and make 11.1 mandatory.

And what's more, could someone please tell me why they did this? I mean, the game worked fine, why did the have to go and change it? For the money I'm going to have to shell out, DX11 better be nothing short of effing amazing.

Any DX 11 card will handle all those versions. I recommend getting at least a 970 for some future proofing (it is DX12 capable)

DX11 is an upgrade version of DX10, hence why it was rolled back all the way to Vista. That's why they skipped DX10 and are focusing on DX11 and moving on to DX12 for the future of the game.

    Gotta keep it looking good.

You can get a DX12 compatible card off newegg.com for under $40 shipped.
None of this "$150 for a new graphics card." That would be like giving your 99 year old grandmother an Audi R8 to drive five feet to the cafeteria. Buy what you need, not the first result that pops up.

I'd suggest 4 gb memory minimum.

Dont worry so much about the exact flavor of dx 11

So long at it has 11.0 your good.

Some of the above cards are pretty cheap (and may not meet min specs)

You can get a GTX 960 4gb under $200 us on amazon.

I thought I'd add to this too, Gina said that the cards could be anywhere from the Nvidia GeForce 400 series and above, AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5000 series and above to launch the game properly. Performance will vary of course, but all of them on that list will be compatible with the game. However, that's not including the current glitches with many of the other cards (some are on the high end side of GPUs) that can't even launch the game.

Edit: Not sure about the integrated GPUs, but the main point was to just go for a DX11 compatible card that meets the minimum requirements. People have been playing with the Radeon HD 5670 and the Radeon HD 6450 1gb cards just fine in the game.

Thanks, I'll check out newegg. Of course, with the currency conversion, I'll still end of paying over $50CDN for it, but still better than the cheapest one I can find at best buy

Damnit, newegg doesn't seem to ship outside of the US.

Don't bother getting a expensive card, I have a GTX 980 and this game runs like cr@p regardless.

I bought a new laptop for my wife with i5 5200 and GT 840 2GB and the game runs just as good as on my custom built €2k+ gaming rig.
The game barely utilises any of the hardware so spending a lot of money just for ESO is a money wasted as it is not going to be utilised. Get a nice affordable, midrange card and you will be set to go (as long as it is from this decade lol)
