Thieve's Troves - Add a cool down to help cure the trove addicts

@ZOS_GinaBruno - let's add a 5-10 minute + cool-down per player on an individual Trove and help move the trove addicts off their camping spots. The drop rates are wonderful and the respawn rate allows everyone to participate if we can move the campers down the trail, no need to nurf the drops or respawn rates imo.

Be better, in my opinion, if they were collectible just the once, per person. It could then go in the achievements as collect all from x location etc

I agree something should be done - the camping is really annoying. My higher level character gets loads of them in the Cadwell's Gold zones while questing because they are unpopulated, but my lower levels never see one.

At the very least, their locations should be randomized. Right now I know a lot of people from my guilds have marked map locations and are just running from spot to spot repeatedly collecting them. And perhaps the glow should be removed so that they are less noticeable, like treasure chests (though they would have to be slightly more recognizable items in that case).

It would have been bad normally, but I think people are just trying to get an easy rebate after their respecs.

It is lazy design, though. Should have been instanced and opened with a special key that randomly dropped off mobs. Or there should have been IC-style Thief Vaults with trophies. Maybe even some way to convert IC trophies to TG trophies and vice versa.

It's hilarious to get whispers saying "MINE GTFO" ... did ZOS get any of those while playtesting it?

The larger issue now are the bots that are camping the troves; i have found most live campers will let you grab one and be on your way if you zone-chat them and ask. I have found several bots just sitting there with the trove open and apparently full inventory... hopefully ZOS will address.

Not sure why you guys are having issues, but I managed to access four of these with no one hanging around them. Been questing in the 'early game' Silver zones. No problem at all for me.

To avoid bot-havervesting it might be an idea to add the chance to get a spider from the throve ...

Great idea! It would let me use up some of the 800 lockpicks I've looted from them this week (seriously, without even camping any).

Just go farm them elsewhere in a different zone. They will all be yours then.

Make them on different timers, like 5 then 20 mins then 15 then to 30, no one will farm them then .

Its definitely annoying, all those bots spawn camping the trove boxes... making them locked -would- be a good start! Random respawn locations and/or random respawn timers would be another good thing!

I'd also love if there were "random encounters" associated with opening one... say, 75% nothing happens, 20% a fellow thief appears, yells "That's MINE!" and attacks, 5% a guard who had been staking out the loot pops into view with a "gotcha" smile and a set of shackles (go right to the "flee or pay" screen, and hope you have clemency or all your ill gotten goods may be gone...)

Or all of the above, and just raise the loot quality a bit?

Best solution I can think of is:
    1. Put a Trove Key on an NPC that the players must Pick-Pocket, with a standard NPC Loot Respawn timer on it.
    2. Make the NPC follow a path where single or multiple guards patrol.
    3. Make the "Window of theft opportunity" a 30 second gap in patrols, granting players enough time to pick pocket their key(s) and escape.
    4. Make a Failed Pick-Pocket guarantee to alert a nearby guard, forcing players to flee.

The above would encourage all sorts of opportunity for players to interact and loot their troves, even creating team work opportunities; a 'runner' to distract guards long enough for other players to loot the required keys, etc...

One of two explanations are possible:
    1. ZoS didnt put much thought into how humans would behave (oversight/neglect)
    2. ZoS engineered the existing trove mechanics on purpose, /laughing all the way to the bank from DLC purchases.

    /shrug
It wouldnt be the first time Developers got a good chuckle off player frustration.
Turbine developers had the same approach, and they alienated their playerbase.
Remember, Dev's will historically and typically think theyre always right, and that their customers dont know jack.
The only way to prove them wrong is through public shaming and a retraction of your wallet.
