Fence limit - each single lockpick counts as one!!

I mean, really? I have an inventory full of nicked stuff that I now can't fence off because of the limit, despite the trafficking passive being maxed out. Is there likely to ever be an increase to the fencing limit or could lockpicks be classed as one slot per stack in the future? I've been fishing and finding troves all morning and now stuck with loads of hot goods I can't get rid of!

Am I just being dumb and missing something here, or is this an oversight not considered, or will I just have to hold onto this stuff for the next 24 hours? Or at least make the limit per fence, rather than a global thing, maybe?

The upside is that levelling of Legerdemain goes per item fenched, regardless of value.

Lockpicks are everywhere and rarely break; I end up periodically selling my excesses of clean ones to make space.

Do not even bother to launder the lifted ones anymore. Have not been caught by a guard since they were implemented, but in the event that I am I have no objection to losing the picks.

I destroy stolen lockpicks. I can't yet bring myself to destroy my backlog of stolen shipment items but I'm considering it as I have over 500 of them right now and I'm still camping this thieves' trove in hopes of getting some Night Mother's Embrace gauntlets with divines.

I fell foul of the stolen lockpick problem. I had 63 - got 50 gold, still have 13 lockpicks and can't fence anything else :(

Even worse, the stolen shipments expand into bunches of trash that I just want rid of - same problem. 10 ironweed? Just clutter.

It is depressing how much in this game is just trash - writ rewards, hireling deliveries, stolen shipments... I end up deleting half of it :(

I just destroy stolen lockpicks, I rarely break any and carry a full stack on each character already. I certainly don't waste any of my precious laundering/fencing limit on them!

I messed up and fenced my lockpicks too, d'oh. Definitely going to have to destroy them from now on. I don't know about loot, but the number of lockpicks in troves is definitely too high. I came across one that someone had just left the picks behind like people used to do with bait. Please don't start that again.

Considering that this hasn't changed since Legerdemain was introduced to the game, I guess you are missing something. But as mentioned above, there are benefits to this as well as work arounds, so it's not a big deal.

So you know... once you max out legerdemain you likely will never pick a lock again and instead just force them everytime.

That costs 1 lockpick btw regardless of success or failure.

Am aware, have had max Legerdemain since the week of its implementation.
Still would sooner just break stolen lockpicks and risk guards taking them than bother laundering.
Do not bother with that passive though, kind of enjoy picking locks.

I just destroy the picks, but I think the stacks of items that you get from the boxes in thieves troves should only count as one item fenced instead of 10. The limit is just too small for an entire dlc to be based around stealing stuff (which is another problem, imo :/)

It's intentional, and it's a good thing. If you don't spend a ton of time stealing stuff, then it helps you to level your Legerdemain quicker by laundering every lock pick (and every provisioning mat, style stone, etc) that you do steal. If you do spend a ton of time stealing stuff then it forces you to be choosy about what you fence and launder, so that you only fence the most valuable items, and only launder the ones that you actually want to hang on to - this makes it so that you can't really exploit the justice system.

Thanks for all the replies! Sometimes it helps just to have another line of thinking to put things into perspective. I don't have the world's greatest brian brain at the best of times!

Previously I've been fencing them off just to get rid of them - a few gold is better than none, and I'm trying for the Black Market Mogul achievement (I want that nice purple! - still a loooong way to go! :)

I'll just launder or delete them in future. :D

That's the purple I've been going for as well. Some other things that might be useful is that I'll just launder what I want to keep (looking for a few purples just for the lulz), destroy all the whites (unless it's something I can use in crafting, then I'll use/launder it), and I just sell the rest; green and above! It's good to see someone else after that purple though. How far in are you? I'm currently around 29k (started not too long ago).

As others have mentioned, yes, this is old behavior, and you should not expect it to change. It's useful to raise Legerdemain quickly at the start of a new character, and best when lockpicks laundered rather than fenced. Same goes for food ingredients, as they also follow this pattern of "many cheap items with stolen flag on it."

Just don't blindly fence everything and you should be fine.

Oh goodness! You're way further than I am. I'll be really torn about keeping Vein of the Heart of Lorkhan and Shard of the Ideal Masters or selling them if I eventually find them. Even if I find multiples it'll be all like "But... But they're shiny and I wanna keep them even though they do NOTHING other than take up space!" Sadly, I'm still finding greens, blues, and lockpicks mostly still.

I started giving some away in the starter zones.

Seriously, lockpicks dropped like it was their job before the DLC hit, why did they think it was necessary to put them in the troves......

They should combine 5-10 of them to count as one since you can get so many of these.
