So I was wondering what one do people prefer playing for PVP and PVE ?

I just made a magblade the other day and am LOVING her, I've yet to get the aoe siphon ability but it's still been very fun leveling so far. Though I've never rolled a Stan char, so I'm not really able to compare the experiences.

I love my Stamblade!

Stamina works best for me since I play very 'tanky'.

Stam can get higher single target burst I believe.

Magica is a lot more fun though for me. Stay in stealth indefinitely, troll people with shade, det, bats/soul tether and sap combo to kill groups, great pve damage.

I run sewers all the time but I really want to try my hand in more PVP. Would one of these be better than the other for PVP or just really depends on how the class is played ?

I have both, a Stam & a Magic NB. They're both fun to play because even though they're NBs, there are different approachs to playing each type.

Love my stamina NB. Tons of options, 2H, DW, Bow, can go from a single target build to a group friendly build quite easily.

Single target
Buff bar = 2H - Rally, Relentless, camo hunter, with vigor and rapid when needed. Bats Ulti
Attack Bar = DW - Impale, concealed weapon, dark cloak, ambush, Fear. Dawnbreaker ulti

Group Friendly
Buff Bar = 2H Rally, Mirage, rapid, vigor, purge
Attack Bar = DW - Steel tornado, prox det, dark cloak, ambush, Fear

Takes a few seconds to switch things out.

Heh, my original reply was PvP focused.

For PvE here are my bars

Attack bar 1 = BOW - Poison Arrow, Relentless, camo hunter, vigor, mirage. Dawnbreak Ulti
Attack Bar = DW - Impale, flying blade, dark cloak, ambush, Steel tornado. Bats ulti

For boss battles and high DPS (when it matters most), weave heavy attacks with poison arrow...keep camo hunter and relentless up, throw a flying blade every 30 to keep +20% weapon dam.

If you often play in groups I would suggest a Magicka NB. I actually changed my NB from stam to mag as I can now run dungeons, sewers, and any content really offering much more utility. I can solo heal all the top dungeons (except IC prison, I just haven't tried yet) and also run DPS. I usually do a bit of both. I'm even looking into gearing him up to be a tank as well which i think is highly viable whilst also providing off-heals.

But I do miss the burst on Stam, especially when I find myself playing solo PvP. So the answer i would say depends on what you want. Higher DPS with no utility? Or tons of utility, sustain, and lower DPS. The answer for me was easy......

Magika nightblades live longer. But my stam is.
Bow. Bombard for tons of ads. Barrage, Camo, mark target and focused aim.
DW. Caltrops, vigor, tornado, sup attack and ambush.

Big aoe damage works well.

No utility is a bit of a stretch for a stam NB.

Stam NB is better than a magica NB with rapids and vigor. Plus, I run mag/stam regen drink, so I do quite well running fear and purge too.

I really like the idea of a magicka nightblade but I haven't really ever run a stamina build so I'm keen to do that too!

What would be more viable For Maelstrom arena?

I have only played magicka NB but seriously I can tank, heal or DPS in vet dungeons. I don't think a Stam NB can boast that. My recommendation is if you only want to play 1 character, then mageblade is the way to go. If you are into/going to make alts, then either choice is fine.

Stamina. Tried Mageblade and it didn't feel right. I like being in the heat of battle with good positioning to mitigate damage.

So a couple of things

1) Shadow passive which ups resistance each shadow cast. I use concealed weapon for this for both speed in stealth and the resistance up

2) Undeath passive from Vampire

3) Sap essence and funnel health keep your hp up. Combine that with leeching strikes and you keep all of your resources up to keep blocking (I use shield on my back bar).

Barely any stam builds have done maelstrom. It's very very hard. 21 Templars on xbox in total and I don't know any stamblades that have. Magika damage and heal at the same time and have some stupid damage in pve. Round 2 is stupidly hard without a shield. Going to try and sword and board set up on mine and try. All about defensive posture at the moment.

But magicka can run rapids too but only as effectively as you running purge. To be fair, Magicka is naturally supposed to have more utility but NB also has some of the best magicka based abilities in the game. Funnel health is amazing when grouped, you mentioned fear which magblade can use every 6 seconds all day long.

But I will say OP, seeing your characters and that your NB is a khajiit, stick with stam a bit longer. Considering you have other magicka classes playing stam builds can be loads of fun, especially in PvP.

For PvE, I really want to say Stam, but the answer is magic, especially if VMA is anywhere on your list of considerations. From a DPS standpoint, if you have Maelstrom bow, people are starting to pull really good numbers on stam, but the vast majority of players are going to do better on a siphonblade. They get heals, stay at range, and thanks to the new CP change to Thaumaturge and Elemental expert, their numbers are only going up. In the new trial, I think Siphonblades might be the best choice for a DPS at the moment based on whole mobile the bosses are.

For PvP, it is more preference. I think the general theory is that Magic is better, but I really like playing more of a melee/skirmisher type in PvP. Stam is better for that I think.
