Question for PC players about Thieves Guild and Champion System changes.

As the title says, I would like to pick the brains of ESO's PC community.

As I play primarily on Xbox One, I do not have the thieves Guild yet (obviously). I was, however; reading the patch notes for the changes coming to the base game alongside the DLC. I noticed the changes to the Champion System, specifically how some of the individual points on the constellations have changed. The one that most concerns me is the change to Thaumaturge in The Ritual constellation.

Thaumaturge used to read: Increase damage with Poison, Disease, and Magic by X%. After the TG DLC dropped, it changed to only increasing the damage of Damage Over Time (DoT) effects. Since I use Thaumaturge with every character I have, this has inportant implications for the builds of my characters. But rather than panic and spout off about things I cannot yet experience, I thought I would ask the PC community about some of their thoughts on this change.

Since this change affects all classes (as all classes' abilities are affected by Thaumaturge), I would like to hear from as many different Class perspectives as possible. I Main a Magicka Sorcerer and a Magicka Templar, so this change has the possibility to affect both of my Mains.

1) Have any of you noticed a significant difference in the damage of your characters abilities since the change? Or was the change so minor that afterwords your thought was "Meh, I can live with it. It's not that bad."?

2) Is/Was the damage difference readily noticeable? How has this affected the Time To Kill (TTK) of your characters?

3) If the change negatively affects you characters survivability/lethality, what other constellation points have you invested in that would offset the change to Thaumaturge?

4) Have other constellation points changed to provide an alternate or equal boost to Magick damage as Thaumaturge used to provide?

5) Is there a workaround to keep the pre-DLC boost to Poison, Disease, Magick damage?

6) Has this drastically changed your character builds?

I am very interested in the thoughts on this change from the people who can experience it. So, please indulge me with your knowledge and experiences with this change.

Thank you.

I wouldn't worry about it. In terms of your magicka Sorc and Templar - the magicka damage boost from Thaumaturge was instead added to Elemental Expert. So you should not be losing any damage at all. Along with this, I actually found that my damage has increased on my magicka Templar main, as the damage of time bonus from Thaumaturge increases nearly all of my skills (this stacks with elemental expert). If you are concerned with losing poison/disease damage - these bonuses have been added the Mighty champion slot. The only way I see these changes hurting your character would be if you used magic damage and poison/disease damage heavily, on the same character. And that would only be only if you completely ignored the Thaumaturge tree for the extra damage boost it provides.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

    Good to know.

I didn't know that the new Thaumaturge would stack with Elemental Expert. I might not have to switch any points around at all. I was really kind of worried about losing the constellation point that buffs my Spell's Physical Penetration from The Ritual on top of losing the buff to Magick damage... But if I don't have to move points, I get to keep the perks and the buff to damage.

    It's a win-win. :)

    6) Has this drastically changed your character builds?

    1) I put 20+ points (all I have) in the elemental expert, all my skills now do more damages, frag, web, entropy, mage fury, elemental ring, lightening flood, overload, etc..all of them, increase is about 10%.

    2) Damage is significant, as listed above, 10% with my 20 CP in elemental expert

    4) elemental expert now increase magick damage

    5) not sure about poison and disease

    6) no.

I think you misunderstood that. The damage doesn't stack without moving points. The X magic damage bonus you received from thurmaturge has been changed to X AoE damage for thurmaturge.

Previously elemental expert was increase flame, frost, shock damage by X. Now elem expert is increase flame, frost shock AND magic damage.

For your sorc you will likely need to move points from thurmaturge to elem expert.

Zee blues are coming!!!! Always.... Always coming...

You're correct, I did misunderstand that. Thank you for the clarification. :)

So are all these changes making....pve easier and pvp harder? We're all going to hit harder and survive a bit more? Seems like a win win for all parties (mostly) my frags are going to gain another 24% damage as I dump all of them into elf born and ele expert.

Maelstrom leader boards may get harder to stay on now.

That's really what it sounds like to me. I won't be able to say one way or the other until the 22nd (TG releases on Xbox), but as I keep cruising over the natch potes, that's how the changes look to me as I read them.

If it works in practice as it reads on my screen, then it will get a big "thumbs-up" from me.
