Poll: DO YOU WANT A FREE RESPEC?

To make things clear, it would be better to know if we really want a respec or not when there will be an upcoming update or change.

I have 8 v16 chars so if I pay 14k per skill respec and 3k per cp respec it would cost me about 136k gold.

Many people complained when there was a forced respec before but many are also complaining now that they didn't give it to us. So what do we really want?

I posted a thread about this too which is on the link below.

As I stated on my thread on the link, I don't want to spend my gold respeccing 8 chars. I'd rather spend them on mats. We're forced to respec as some skills are changed and I don't see why they're not making it cost less for a limited amount of time.

I'm just coming back to the game after awhile and I'm just going to be starting fresh, but I still think that they should offer a free, optional respec anytime they make any major changes like this.

The solution is simple. The complaining happened from the "Forced" respec when you logged in and had all your points given back to you. So they stopped doing that. The solution to satisfy both parties, simply make respec's at the respec shrine cost 1 gold for a duration of 1 week after a major patch update. Then no more complaining from the complainers and it gives people the opportunity to test out and try the changes in skills.

A free, optional respec would be best when skills changed. This could be done in a couple ways by tweaking existing systems. The easiest would be to mail everyone the equivalent of a crown respec scroll. Alternatively you could make all respecs at the Shrines free for a week. This would give us a chance to experiment with new abilities and if they don't work out for us giving us the flexibility of trying something else without dumping 15k or more on a full realignment, or serveral thousand on a partial respec.

Or they could make a respec cost 100g for a limited amount of time. Say, a week?

    Yes absolutely.
When the devs make big changes a free respec should be automatic. No one should have to use thousands of their in game gold or more importantly to Zo$, their real cash, because of a game update.

All the stuff about people being upset over the last forced respec is just smoke and mirrors to disguise the fact that due to lack of communication on Zo$ end, it came as a big surprise to many players who were not expecting it. And of course to force people to the crown store to spend real money on respecs.

    Edit:
Here's Firor himself from this interview from MMORPG yesterday:
    http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/821/feature/10636/Elder-Scrolls-Online-Matt-Firor-on-the-Thieves-Guild-DLC.html

"MMORPG: Will players be getting a free respec of their abilities with the Thieves Guild patch?

MF: No, it’s not a good idea to make everyone respec their entire character whenever a DLC is released. Until we have the ability to respec just one skill line at a time, we won’t be doing any more forced respecs. We do have plans for this, and we’ll get it in as soon as we can."

I'd like people who voted no to explain why... its pretty simple, skills and/or CP changes, we should get a free respec. If someone seriously has a problem with taking 5 minutes to reload their skills and CP they have serious issues.

I think whenever they make changes, they should offer the choice of a re-spec. Especially since they changed the champion points up some, a free CP respec would be welcomed. Just pop a scroll in everyone's mail. If you want to use it, use it, if not, discard it.

I am surprised they caved to the complainers last time. Mostly because there were not all that many complaints about the respec.

There should be a low cost 100 Gold Respec for a Week after a major change like this.

I think any time they make changes to skills it should be a free respec. I am sure the reason why they did not give it to us is because they sell it on the crown store.

The problem with the forced respec, like they have done in the past, is that it catches a segment of the player base unaware. They spend time downloading some big huge patch, instead of playing the game, then they log in and have to reassign points, instead of playing the game. People caught unaware may not remember what they had points in. They did not take screen captures or prepare in any way. They are forced to deal with it, even if they could have played for a couple of hours and put off dealing with the changes until later.

It is quite possible that a very large number of currently active players fit into this demographic.

Until ZOS can implement a method where the players can respec on their own terms, they should stay away from the forced respec.

Fortunately, they have indicated that they are working on this.

Can't they just drop something in our inventory or email, giving us a free respec if we want it. I wouldn't consider that to be a forced respec.

It was ZOS that made the changes to the skills and Champion Points. Why should the player have to pay to adjust their skills or Champion Points to reflect the changes made.

I wanted one but now I've paid for it on 6 of my 8 toons, at this point it's too late for me. For others though, yeah. This was a stupid decision on ZOS' part and yet another sad example of them listening to QQ'ers on the forums. Whining casuals will *NEVER* be happy with anything ZOS does so why cater to them in the first place?
