Thinking about returning to ESO but...

I'm not sure if I'll be able to be competitive starting from zero due to the champion points difference between myself and other PvPers / PvErs.

I played on PC (I stopped playing around December 2015) and had around 250ish CP; but now I'm thinking on buying the game for PS4 (Xmas present). Since we cannot do transfers from PC to Consoles (God knows why)... will I be able to catch up with other people or at least decrease the CP difference easily/fast? I understand there are Champion Points caps in place to keep the CP gap short, but that won't do any difference for me if I'm starting with zero champion points.

Even thou I'm a filthy casual, I don't want ZoS to hand me champion points for free (I understand that I will never be able to compete with players that have played every week since the game release), but I do feel that it's unfair that new players don't have a fighting chance against veterans with high amount of CPs. I might not have all the information on any catch-up mechanics, but I believe ZoS shoot themselves in the foot by implementing this CP system that slowly increase the gap between veterans and new comers.

    The "Catch-Up" system is nice.

That said, I'd go with the PC version (assuming you don't have IRL friends playing the PS4 version). Everything you can do in ESO can be done on PC better than Consoles. That's not "Console Hate". Just the truth.

Azura's Star - one of the Alliance War campaigns was changed to disable CP, so you can enter as your baseline level. I have a feeling it'll become more skill based than the other campaigns.

The reason I want to play on a PS4 and not in a PC is for the graphics and my life style. I've never had a gaming computer and the PS4 has better graphics than my old laptop. Also, I just want to lay down on my sofa with a controller on hand.

Azura's Star sounds like a good alternative for PvP, but what about PvE? What is the CP catch-up system ESO have?

well the amount of CP people have on consoles is lower. according to all people we see here on the forum 90% is at the cap of 501. but when i speak in game with most people are sitting around 300 by now. and to be honest those first 100 CP have a bigger impact on your stats then the 401-501. best find a guild to play like you want. i'm on xbox one so can't help you with that though.
p.s. the early CP go hella fast with the catch-up system when it was implemented i was around 120 CP and got like a CP for each quest. just think about how fast those first CP will go :)

CP now has a cap and a catch up mechanic.
We now have campaigns with no cps for you to start off in.

Really? Azura's Star in consoles won't disable CPs? That's a bummer, I was getting exited.

Well it seems you got your answer for the pvp portion but why would the champions point make any difference in pve? Its pve lol its not competitive.

CP makes a big difference in resources management and that's a core mechanic in ESO (if I remember correctly). For example, if I'm a DPS and my group is doing a dps race boss fight, I won't be able to keep my dps up without a good resources management and we might not beat the boss in time.

Also, I would like to clarify something regarding PvP... Is there a campaign in console that will disable champion points or not?

It will be when console gets the update. Console is always about a month behind the pc on updates.

WoW is awful to catch up you need to raid LFR then normal/heroic to then get to mythic totally not noob friendly.

Leveling up in WoW is like candy. It's so noob friendly. I have never had a rough time in that game. Not ever.ESO is so much harder than WoW when it comes to noob friendly.

haven't played WOW in 7 or 8 years now.
TESO is the most new player friendly game out there. PVE is a hand holding adventure questing is so boring and repeative the hardest part is staying awake you out level zones so quickly. I never had a hard time in this game till I was a Vet 12 in upper Craglorn before IC. The vet content is tough sure but by that time you have some champ points and sort of know what your doing. PVP is a joke Non CP severs, battle leveling everyone to vet 15 so even vet 1s have as much resources and damage as vet 16s in all gold gear lol yeah in my opinion this game is easy easy mode till at least Vet 15.
Don't get me wrong the quests were cool and we'll written. I really like Daggerfall and Almeri quest zones but when you a vet 8 in a vet 6 zone in kinda sucks doing fetch quests.

At this exact moment no. When Thieves Guild is released for Consoles YES. Check on that release date and you'll know exactly when. I've played in the No CP Campaign Azura for PC NA and it's a lot of fun. Strategy plays a much bigger role than CP now.

Thanks for the replies guys. My PS4 is currently undergoing "service" so I should have it back in about 2 weeks just in time for Dark Souls 3. BUT, once I'm done with DS3 I'll pick up ESO and give it a go.
