You gonna pay for all those new computers bucko?

I can save $20 a month to be able to afford a new graphics card at the end of every 12 months. Maybe folks should stop going out to eat so much. If you can't put away at least 20 a month for savings, you have much worse problems than not being able to play a game.

GTX 750Ti cards are pretty cheap low end cards and DX11.2+ compatible. Although for DX12 you would probably need an OS, Motherboard, CPU upgrades as well and at that point might as well build a new PC..

Well if someone could afford to pay the mortgage maybe the world would not be suffering. Seriously, a lot of people got destroyed by that event and some are still trying to recover from it. All because you can, doesn't mean everyone can. I've played Devil's Advocate, I've even said that ZOS gave a reasonable reason for doing what they did. But coming on here saying I can do this, I can do that isn't helping. Wait till ZOS say "Hey we're going full steam with Win 10 and not support any other version of Window" then you'll have a massive uproar. There's been 64 bit CPUs for over 11 years, but only now are we seeing a 64 bit game client, don't see ZOS dropping 32 bit do you.

This event has taken away a fair portion of the player base. It's going to effect guild, your friends list, the amount of people available to run quests, trails and pledges.

Please provide me a link backing up that bolded statement, because I don't believe it.

I can believe that DX11 GPU prevalence is around 30% for ALL PCs, since the vast majority of the computers out there are owned by non-gamers. It also depends on what you consider a "gaming PC" since grandma doesn't need DX11 to play Bejeweled on her Dell.

Most true PC-gamers build their own PCs, or at least know enough to buy a pre-built that was designed for gaming. I find it incredibly hard to believe that a game moving to DX11-only right now, today, is apt to lost 70% of its players because they don't have a machine capable of running DX11. There's no way that's accurate.

It isnt true that most true gamers build their own computers. Many have them built for gaming.I had mine built by IBUYPOWER.Not everyone can just say "well,I'll go get the stuff and build my own computer".
I wish I had known that after playing well into the wee hours last night I would no longer be able to play ESO today. It shouldnt happen this w ay.No matter the sudden requirements.
Actually, I did say "most build their own, or have them built" which would include you.
May I ask what year you had your PC built in? Because the GTX 250 you said you were using came out in 2009. That was 7 years ago.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, and I do feel bad for the people that this is affecting and can no longer play. But honestly, when you get into PC gaming, you pretty much have to resign yourself to the fact that you are going to need to keep that gaming PC at least reasonably up-to-date.

There isn't mate, I'm in exactly the same sinking boat as you, but I'm sitting right next to the leak as I'm on a laptop and 10,100 crowns that I can not spend. The only hope is a change of policy by ZOS but let's be honesty that isn't going to happen unless there is a severe drop in population.

It's a shame yes, maybe ZOS will make a call to Bethesda and come up with some way to compensate us for our lost crown but I doubt it.

I'd go into program files (x86), scrolls down to Zenimax Online, go into the launcher file, look for the Bethesda.net_launcher.exe. Double click.
I have not downloaded the patch yet, so uninformed whether you get a choice between 32bit & 64 bit logins. Others may be able to give a more accurate answer as to whether both versions are available.

Well seeing i had to repalce my whole computer from amd dual core with Vista to what I have now just to play this game I can some what sympathize but thats the way it is sadly.

I had to buy widows 10 since MS didn't give a free up grade to for Vista to W 10, but the good news is now I know how to build my own computer, still kinda stoked that it actually worked lol, plus my GPU is direct X 12.

Unfortunately, this is life when it comes to PC's & technology advances. I've had to upgrade CPU's, GPU's etc, multiple times over the years, to keep up with game requirements & new versions of Windows.

Hmm did they make the dx11 change to the pts sever?

Yes they did, however there's a thread going around stating that people were able to log on to the PTS but not onto the main game. There's also another going around about the problem being Win 10 but I believe @Reevster can confirm that his Win 10 machine is having no problems.

Right, because updating your machine every 12 months is in everyones budget?

Also not hyperbole, DX11 GPU prevalence just passed the 30 percent mark in gamer PCs three months ago, that means 70 percent of gamers couldnt play ESO today.

You gonna pay for all those new computers bucko?

I can save $20 a month to be able to afford a new graphics card at the end of every 12 months. Maybe folks should stop going out to eat so much. If you can't put away at least 20 a month for savings, you have much worse problems than not being able to play a game.

Do you maybe know a way of circumventing the problem with the DX11? How do we go back to playing the 32 bit?

There isn't mate, I'm in exactly the same sinking boat as you, but I'm sitting right next to the leak as I'm on a laptop and 10,100 crowns that I can not spend. The only hope is a change of policy by ZOS but let's be honesty that isn't going to happen unless there is a severe drop in population.

It's a shame yes, maybe ZOS will make a call to Bethesda and come up with some way to compensate us for our lost crown but I doubt it.

Then,..I guess that's it.Until I can figure out hoe to get a new PC,which I cant.Mine cost me $1,300.00,and I'll never be able to go better than this one.
To upgrade someone told me that Id need a new OS,.motherboard, and more.

You should be able to just replace the video card unless its 10+ years old. Whats the specs?

I just found out that the EP friend I was hoping to run dungeons with won't be able to run the game anymore :/
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I also think there's some confusion as between the 32/64 bit versions and the DX11 change, as evident in this thread. They're quite separate issues, and I'd certainly recommend everyone to stick to the 32 bit version for at least a few days and only test their graphics card against that version if they're in any doubt about their ability to keep playing. To do that, just stick to the existing launcher rather than running the separate 64 bit exe file in the game folder.

It's unfortunate that this sort of change catches some out, but it is a positive change and was first announced a long time ago, with the periodic need for component/system upgrades always having been a part of PC gaming.

It doesn't matter which client you use. The launcher is still using the 32 bit client, you have to physically go into the folder and click on 64 bit .ese in order to use the 64 bit client. It states it in the patch notes.

That's literally what I was telling him to do, but thanks for the input.
