That ZOS developers have to be publicly humiliated or glaring defaults in the game completely revealed before they start acting on some of the things that the player base wants changed?

i.e. https://youtube.com/watch?v=cOCD_Jzre3c

and

i.e. https://youtube.com/watch?time_continue=37&v=sVRVYq5nIr4

I understand it is a difficult process making a game, but ZOS has to realize that TES has a rabid fan base that will point out anything and everything wrong with the game especially when the MMO crowd gets on board because they are adept at pointing out even the smallest cracks in a game's armor.

From watching many of the ESO live episodes I get the feeling sometimes that the egos at ZOS see themselves as immune from player criticism and then they just plow ahead with whatever plans they have for the game. Then when the new content and new game systems roll out there is a huge uproar from the player community and then ZOS changes things when it would have been much easier to listen to the player suggestions in the first place.

Well, that's just my cynical observation, but I do want to remind ZOS not to let their "ego" write "checks your body can't cash!"

You dont get it, they have listened the players but first players appeared to the forums 2 year before PC-launch, when this game was first announced, so they are still working on those things, sure its problem, players raise more issues than dev can take care, but thats how it goes.

Yeah but they don't seem to prioritise bug fixing. There has, still is I think major bugs in game which have been around since PC launch. Bugs like the multiple Mundus and the multiple ultimate spam are monumental bugs which should be prioritised and quashed immediately, not to mention the khajiit passive which was broken for about 6 months.

From my understanding bug fixing takes alot of time, if they spend too much time on bug fixing, less content we get and probably those guys who are doing it, have alot higher salary too, so devs dont want to hire them too much. Or go figure.

Personally I feel sorry for them having to deal with the level of abuse they do.

They can't make everyone happy, nor can they implement every single change every individual wants. End of the day this is also their game not ours, if we don't like it we can just leave and go find something we do like.

Also they're looking at what we do not what we say. We are all ranting and raving now about X but give it three months and Y will be the new thing, then later Z. Remember when DK wings got changed and eveyrone proclaimed the end of the DK, no one would ever play one again, the skill was worthless and not worth slotting. The change happened, everyone kept going as they do.

Most of the feedback is huge ranting and raving because changes are happening, sure the forums majority and the passionate fans will give feedback about how they don't like it. However once the change happens they just roll with it and move on.

I would love to see them with better communication still but compared to what we had months ago they're doing better. The frustrating thing is every time they do communicate everyone tells them their full of it and useless. Wrobel posted an update in the Templar thread but because it wasn't "Hello everyone, we fixed every issue you all have as individuals the game works perfect now" then he was targeted again for it.

I would like to see monthly Dev Blogs from the developers updating us with what they're looking for in the future, plans and ideas maybe some more graphs/statistics so we can see the data they see and understand where they're coming from though.

I feel not enough developers nowadays do this. It's not about giving ETA's, it more about reassurance of how developers are aware. It's not about knowing when it's going to be fixed, but that it is on their radar. I think especially for an MMO, a product of ongoing evolution and the necessity of ongoing interest in that product from players is very important, and a monthly dev blog of what is going on internally would be enough to settle a lot of dust. No need for backstage high-profile info, but rather keywords such as "working on", "content" "Bug-fixing", "experimenting", would be enough to spark the interest of players and show we are being heard, and unfortunately most of the "we're working on it"'s either come from Live Streams which not everyone watches, or from other players' word of mouth without any official source, which again originates uneasiness.

It also seems most players nowadays feel entitled to whatever they personally deem as high-priority, which ends up in useless posts and aggression towards hard-working devs. I think a monthly dev blog would be ideal to keep the communication ongoing without being so susceptible to aggression. Usually the most interesting communication doesn't come from a "community manager", although they do have an important role. It comes from the devs that are actually on the forefront of development and know what they're talking about because they experience it themselves. Not to say CM's don't know what they're talking about, that is not my point, but rather the communication is relayed, and when it is relayed it doesn't feel as important unfortunately.

No it is that ZOS only does stuff when streamers and youtubers say so.
