Undaunted Skill Line Leveling Should Have Another Completion Option

They just need to make it so it's less work for characters AFTER the first gets to max.

Maybe let the achievements be account wide? This wouldn't make too much of a short cut.
How about making pledges count for more once you've gotten ask the achievements completed?

There are tons of solutions that only reduce it by a little, and still require players to complete everything.

I would like to have 8 characters maxed and fully completed. At this rate it will take so long that ps8 will be out...

Threads like this remind me of the kid at school who would fail tests, miss class and then ask for extra credit. Meanwhile, I did the work and earned my grades. If something was hard and I still wanted to learn it, I had to put in extra time. That's just life. People seeking an "alternative route" have always sought ways to get around doing the work as it's been laid out and they've been rewarded over and over for it.

The "kill X named bosses" as well.

Try it. Check your level and then go do one of those achievement and see if it went up or not.

You can level the undaunted skill line to a point by doing the delves and public dungeons but you do not progress very far. To level it out you need to do the pledges over and over again.

Both of these statements are false. Public dungeons and solo delves dont give undaunted points.
Not directly, but what you do in delves and public dungeons (and even some quest instances) counts towards a number of the dungeon achievements that go towards ranking up your Undaunted skill line. Things like the Dungeon Annihilator, Dungeon Blocker, Dungeon Damage Dealer, etc.

You sir are correct. I guess I should have said that the achievements you get listed under the Public Dungeon tab do not give undaunted xp. But, yes, you can get the cumulative achievements like you mentioned from them. I usually have undaunted to 9 before I get any of these types of achievements though.

I've got one character who does more pledges than all of my other characters combined. That character hit Undaunted 9 before getting most of those achievements (maybe before getting any of them?), but my other characters have all picked up a whole bunch of those achievements, and none of them are at Undaunted 9 yet.

If you do pledges often, those achievements aren't going to make a difference to your Undaunted leveling. If you rarely do pledges, those achievements are going to be a significant chunk of your progress in Undaunted.

Maybe everything should just level up on a timer, wether you play or not, that way you can get all of the skills that you want without having to do anything you don't want! We can also make the timer super quick, because, seriously, who likes waiting? I know there are days I just don't want to play, and I don't think I should be penalized for not wanting to play on a particular day or week.

How many have you leveled your undaunted purely via PUGs??

How many of you had guilds or buddies to run with it?

How many of you sit through the group finder to do the dailies??

Seriously how many of you with rank 9 (non PC cuz u got an extra year) did it like the rest of us?

Yes, but tell us how you really feel! :p

I've got Undaunted rank 9 on one character only, and that was done in large part through pledge runs with guildies. Some was PUGs through the group finder, but very little compared to the runs with guildies.

Because it's a game. We do it for fun and many people don't find grinding and repeating fun. From what I've seen he's not asking for a free ride. I'll bet he would be thrilled to have more content to do for undaunted.

There are some good hints and suggestions in this thread that should make getting there less of a dull, repetitive chore. Thanks for all that.

You did (although I'll grant technically you suggested pay to win over play to win) but your main case was to accuse people who want to actually play the game of being selfish and therefore your second post is as spurious and misleading as the first.

Almost purely through PUGs for me.
How many of you had guilds or buddies to run with it?

I have run with guildies on occasion but that is less than 1/10 of the runs I've done I'd wager.
How many of you sit through the group finder to do the dailies??

Again, this is me. Sometimes I hop in a group advertised in zone but mostly the grouping tool.
Seriously how many of you with rank 9 (non PC cuz u got an extra year) did it like the rest of us?

Well I didn't even start dungeon delving in earnest until after console release and I have 3 characters at undaunted rank 9 now.

It's a skill line for doing group PvE content. I see this the same way as people asking for alliance ranks to be rewarded for PvE in Cyrodiil. If you want undaunted ranks, run the group PvE content. If you want alliance ranks, kill other players in Cyrodiil.

Maybe it's different on console than it is on PC, but I get plenty of competent groups in the group finder.

That, good sir, depends entirely on whether you are healing or I am :) and to a lesser extent the amount of bourbon I have drank.

Not to besmirch the guildies that I do run with because they are all quite capable, but I've met and run with some really great players in the grouping tool. A good 75% of my friends list is from PUGs.

I'd imagine the amount of beer I've consumed is also a factor lol

I prefer to run with friends and guildies, but when I do PUG it I'd agree that you do often run into some fine folks.

To be honest, the reason I don't PUG more often isn't that you get fewer good players (and when I say good player, I'm referring to being competent, but more importantly to having a good attitude) in PUGs so much as it is that I find you get more bad players. When you're playing with friends and guildies, the odds of ending up with a bad player (as in: a player with a bad attitude) are lower, because people are less likely to behave like jerks when they're grouped up with people they're likely to interact with again.

Having said that, overall my experiences with PUGs have generally been positive. It's rare that I end up grouped with jerks - not as rare as when I group with friends and guildies, but still rare.

Oh cool. I didn't know that.

OTOH I am a really slow leveler. One of my earliest characters (been playing her intermittently since ... about 2-3 months after PC release) is only 22nd level or something like that.

I'm not in a hurry, which is lucky since I have a full time job, spouse and am a severe alt-o-holic (two full accounts, considering yet another sub).
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Well you described it as being both petty and emotional, the inference is not unreasonable but feel free to clarify.

As you don't seem to be aware the phrase 'Pay to win' is quite common in the gaming world to describe the situation where a gaming company sells for real money skills or equipment that others have to gain through playing (or may not even be able to gain through playing at all). Since you suggested that these thigs could be paid for they wouldf probably be described under this heading if that were the case.

Personally I doubt it would be winning as it could well strip the game of meaning for those that gained the things that way and as they would not have put in the play time needed to gain the play skills to go with the purchased skills they actually might find they were more frustrated as they would have invested money on 'skills' they did not have the skill to use properly.

I have two toons at undaunted 9.

Sorry if I don't want to faceroll Spindleclutch another million times to get max undaunted on my other 6.

The pledges aside from wgt and icp are smash your face on a controller easy. That's not work. It's a boring, repetitive grind. Work means a challenge.

With this, meteor and alliance skills, there should be a system where it makes it way less of a grind on multiple toons. This game is pretty discouraging when it comes to alts. I've got meteor on 5 toons. Do you realise how incredibly dull that is? I have two undaunted 9, undaunted 6 and undaunted 5. My other vr16, I can't even be bothered with. Running the boring, easy pledges 3 times a day is not rewarding at all.
