What you need to realize is that they "lock" your account or "ban" so" NO ONE" can access it, happened to me, apparently someone tried to hack my account from another ISP I am assuming and it was "locked"so the hacker could not access it nor could I .

The lock may have saved my stuff but the worst thing is that i submitted tickets but it was like 5 or 6 days before i got a reply. I waited not knowing what the heck was going on thinking I may have got hacked but had no clue. I called their number but all i got was a recording saying go to the website and contact support which i already did the only way possible with a opening a ticket. This is the problem, not the auto ban, most of the time its for a good reason such as a possible hack on your account.

there must be a better way to let us to know whats going on with our account, instead of waiting for days , waiting on a ticket.

There are some games that still have some people monitoring for things happening in the game. Can't speak for this one as I have not ever asked for something in game here.

From what we already know they do not give out the reason why you are banned, in this game. But most games at least give it out.
Basically, I think the main causes are

Botting was a major problem back in the day, thing is buying from not supported third party sites allows them to hack accounts and also buying from them gets people banned.

Permanent bans would be stuff that would harm the game and the profit of the game over time. If they think your ruining the games economy or basically think that your sharing between accounts might also get one of the accounts banned.
Giving away passwords is another reason that you could get you banned. As well as copyrighted account names, could get the account deleted. Using Bots hacking the game would most likely and will get you and all your accounts banned. They do keep track of everything done in game, like mailing trading banking and guild stores. So yes they do investigate if things are going on that could harm the game and its long run. Also being banned more then once could possibly get the account a permanent ban. Also threatening people with real life harm will definitely qualify for this. They will possibly track the accounts location and contact the local if they think its legit. They show the terms of service and the rules and they expect you to understand them. Possibly the one reason why they don't tell people what got them banned because they think you already know the reason why.

Temp bans could be over stuff like trolling, exploiting, going against warnings by gms. Basically making it harder for players to play the game the way they want to. The more serious the offense could be a longer ban sentence maybe a month or more. I think they basically mostly do the three day ban on people that violate by trolling people spam etc. For one thing they don't want to ban people for long if they think they could get money off of you.
Basically the reasons behind the ban is all in the terms of service.

I would read up on them and the code of conduct. To know what will get you banned or why you got banned.

    https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/code-of-conduct?_ga=1.244050306.644757858.1455061806

Basically the same links they post about on the forums. When they close threads. Its the rules of being on there sites and playing their game and they expect you to follow them.

But maybe sometimes they do make mistakes people get banned by mistake, but I am sure if this was the case you can always talk with them it might take more then once but yeah, if you never read the terms of service or code of conduct. Read them, they are important. They don't just ban with no reason at all. Sometimes it might have been a mistake but yeah most of the time they have a good reason why.

They do in fact investigate you, if there is something fishy going on. If they have good reason to believe you did break the rules they will put out the ban. Only way to reverse it is through their customer support. The best chance of getting a ban lifted if you can prove you did not violate the rules. Which sometimes might be possible.
