Crafting Poisons

Some of the alchemy ingredients point toward possible poison crafting in the future. Has ZOS talked about this at all? If so, what have they said?

I feel like it would give stamina builds a little bit more of an edge to even things up if they could be applied to weapons. I feel like it would only improve the game's dynamics.

I miss this as well, it was one of my favorite things in other TES games, to use poisons like that. I was so happy when I found out how to make "slow", my favorite poison in Skyrim - and in ESO I just drank it myself like an idiot instead to put in on a weapon. To me the lack of this ability make the bow a lot less worth - it has anyway lower dps, it should have this feature to apply a specific and by alchemy produced poison to a target.

I agree. I wonder why they decided to leave it out at all... Has to be a reason. Seems like it would only add to the game.

They do need to add it we know they can all they have to do is turn it on. They did have it in beta from what I know but they did not add it to base game. Maybe they thought it would be op or something, but since sometimes they only work once. It would not be that op, if you have to reapply it.

Not really. There are 12 pairs of opposing effects for 24 effects total, 13 of them 'helpful' and 11 of them 'harmful.'

The crafting poison damage already exists in Enchanting with the Kuoko rune.

I always assumed the negative effects on reagents was simply to give those that invested more skill points into alchemy more options for reagent combinations, so they could make their fave pots with undesirable (more common) reagents. I don't think the inclusion of negative effects suggests the inclusion of poisons necessarily, although it does fit with es lore/tradition.

They don't have to make the poisons have game changing effects. They could be applied to physical weapons and have durations equal to the water purity. 10 mins, 20 mins, continuing up to an hour. However they want to do it. And the effects could be relatively minimal, but still have utility. Things like reduce movement speed by 25%, minor defile or minor fracture. Heck, they could be less than those. Just something... Wasted potential.

In the last ESO live there was a question asked and the community managers hinted that poison making may be in the future. Specifically they said "stay tuned." Here's the link, and the question can be found at 58:31.

But that is not the same - an unspecific poison damage - that is not like applying a specific effect via a poisoned arrow to a target. Unspecific poison damage via skill is lame - one of the worst ideas, when there is alchemy in the game. To me it is no fun to use a bow skill, where I press a button, instead to use the bow, aim and shoot - the whole fun of using a bow is missing.

Pretty sure that liquid substances that have "harmful" effects is the definition of poisons. You can already create "poisons," they just aren't given that label in the game and you can't apply them to weapons.

And you're saying that enchanting a weapon with poison damage makes more sense? Enchanting is inherently magical. There is nothing magical about poison.

Morrowind had poison spells but yeah poisons should have some use as now they are mere rubbish
