How do I get my resto staff leveled up faster (solved)

wee_red_one
I know you can level it up by healing people and doing quests but I was wondering if there is a faster way of levelling

Just killing stuff with it equipped.

So just use class skills to kill while you have it out.

Also, if you want to kill with a Destro staff, you can slot resto skills on the same bar and it will level it.

Find or make a staff with training on too.

Yeah, make sure you have one resto staff ability slotted on the offensive bar too - you will not be able to use it but it will absorb the experience into the resto staff.

Also when you turn in the quest make sure you swapped your weapon for resto staff.

When leveling resto staff I do a few things:
    • Always use a training staff upgraded to blue, I think it's about a 56% increase in XP gains for that skill line.
    • Keep my resto staff on the back bar and stack as many of the resto staff abilities on that bar as I can.
    • Start fights by casting regeneration before switching to my front bar.
    • Switch to the back bar before turning in any quests.
    • Run around zones on the back bar and drop heals on anyone that looks like they are struggling.

Do this and you will level it up in no time.

Do this and you will level it up in no time.

Just to add to this, any weapon that has Training on it gives the same bonus no matter the level. So, having a low level Purple or even Gold to equip can leverage quest experience if you don't want to improve every staff you use while leveling. Just have to remember to equip the more improved staff. To that end, for Restoration, does the level of the staff really matter since you don't need the Weapon damage? Don't know the answer to that question.

But if it does not, then make one staff in Training, improve it to Gold and use that until you get the skill leveled.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Gold might be a bit excessive ($$$), but I do have a level 1 purple training resto staff that I equip with my level 1 purple exploration gear whenever I start a new zone. Running around and discovering everything in that gear usually nets me 1.5 non-vet levels and a big jump in my resto staff line, just try not to get into any fights ;)

Best way to level a Resto staff is to slot a resto staff skill or 2 on your main bar. Even if you are running something else like destro staff on your front bar, you will gain XP for your resto staff if the skills are slotted while you gain XP. You wont be able to cast the skills, but it works!

You really dont need more than 2-3 skills on your front bar while leveling, especially if you move your buffs to the back bar. I always have one or 2 spots on my front bar reserved just for leveling skills and weapon lines I might want in the future. Resto is a pain, because it is really a back bar kind of weapon. Your back bar does not get XP when it is not active. This gets around that. If I am actually grinding, I slot an AOE on my front bar like elemental ring, and the other 4 skills and ultimate are things I am trying to level. I use my back bar for everything else I need.

The other thing is to consider equipping a training resto staff and slotting a bunch of resto staff skills every time you turn in a quest. I am a big fan of a quest turn in bar. Every time you turn in a quest, equip whatever weapon you want to level (pref in training) and slot all the skills you are trying to level. I personally try to level every skill, armor, and weapon line. You can level a weapon line to 50 without ever equipping one.

Easiest way is, as you mentioned, questing. When turning in or completing any quest be sure to switch to your resto bar and have EVERY SLOT on that bar filled with a resto staff ability. You will get a significant xp boost toward that skill line by doing this. You do not have to do the quest with a resto ability on your resto bar, merely change them before completing the quest, complete quest and switch them back to whatever.

I only say this as a crafter who has more than 200 Gold Tempers. Don't use them all that often. But, yes, a person starting out should just get to Blue on the staff if they want to use that route.
