Argonian Templar Healer!

Last week I started working on a new character, as title argonian Templar Healer. Yesterday I saw a video of worst race/class combinations, and guess what's on there #3 worst combination....at level 36 I'm feeling somewhat committed to the build now. I misunderstood the healing passive a of argonian to thinking that would make me a better healer, not get more healing from other people. And I got a bite.

Argonian Vampire looks way cooler than my Orc. It's much more prominent, kind of looks like I went albino or something

Might seem kind of corny to those who know, but I have been rocking the Resto staff both bars because I thought a healer should be using a Resto staff. It hasn't been so good, but is still fun to play. No it's not. It's almost leveled to 50 so I'll keep it for a bit longer.

So anyways, I do still want to be a healer and I also need to way up my DPS cause it is not so good. Wearing a Magnus/seducer set and Random low level jewelry for now. Any tips are welcome.

There is a difference between being viable and being optimal. The hype you hear about how bad Argonians and their passives are, while they make a debatable case, usually ignore the fact that no matter what race you choose in this game, you can still put together a build that is capable of clearing all content. I prefer to choose my race and class on playstyle, and then optimize the character to its full potential beyond that, rather than forcing myself to play a class simply because of a small net %increase to one stat. I know of 2 Argonian Templar healers who are both very good, have endgame stats that are comparable and competitive with those of magicka races, and in many cases make up for having a marginally lower max magicka with player skill and experience.

I know of other Argonian healers as well, and I have one myself. I could spend a great deal of time justifying Argonians as healers, and explain ways to accommodate the difference in max magicka (which ultimately only comes down to a few percentage points, which is notable but not a deal-breaker, and there are other characteristics that make up for it in some ways). If you have any specific questions I would be happy to help.

    You havee 2 options:

1- Do what most of the players do: erase the lizard

2- Keep the lizard and work it out.

I have a VR16 NB magicka Argonian and I can tell you, though he is not a killing machine, he can put some interesting dmg on PvP. In PvE can do most of the content easily, even solo craglorn.

Apart from that argonian, I've been theorycrafting a Templar DPS lizard (he´s LvL 31 now). I respec almost daily, butt I've foud some interesting combos with him in PvE:

    Flame staff:

inner light (more magicka and spell crit)
repenteance (more resource's regen and a "oh ***" button)
Flame clench (knock back and DoT)
Explosive charge (AoE dmg and gap closer)
Punct sweep (Spammable DoT and HoT)
    U Cresc sweep

Close the enemy, charge a medium/heavy attack and after it's released, flame clench. After the clench fireball hits the enemy, explosive charge and punct sweep till he's down. Try to weane the sweep for a fast ulti regain

I'm still working on my second bar (ranged, healing, tanking... IDK) xD

It's all (deltias) fault. I saw another video on there with a Templar DPS. I switched my puncturing sweeps to biting jabs to find out it is stamina based not magic. That's not working good for me as I have all attributes in magic. I'm finding the Resto staff to be not necessary on my Templar and I see many magic users rocking 2H and bow.
If I split attributes magic/stam will that make me more viable? Most the endgame builds I see are one or the other.

In the vast majority of cases, magicka builds that use stamina-based weapons are not entirely viable; a lot of damage and utility potential is given up to split stats. Templars afford a luxury that other healers do not, in that they can heal without the use of a resto staff (although many temp healers will still use a resto for trials, or at least situationally; it varies). Dual-wielding swords is a useful technique for boosting spell damage (and therefore healing and damage output) but this is purely a passive benefit; no actual dual-wield skills are used. Most people will recommend that you pick either magicka or stamina and focus into it.

No, just go one way or the other.

I'd suggest you thoroughly read ability tooltips before putting a point in them, as well as the descriptions of builds and videos before you follow through with them.

Never split attributes... just pay a visit to Almalexia in Deshan and respec morphs. It is quite cheap

Regarding the resto staff, as a Templar, the only reason why should you keep ot is for the cycle of life passive and maybe... maaaaaaaaybe for sould siphon skill... With the new patch, pots should help you to regain magicka easily (so, consider a career as an alchemist too), with the new reworked passive

My argonian templar healer is awesome and I love him. No he's not the best healer out there, yes his racial passives don't bring much to the table, and yes many of his class skills are broken or useless... but none of that matters unless you want to play super-competitively at endgame. I've healed almost every dungeon in the game with my Saxhleel and don't get many complaints.

Stay true to the Hist and may the rains be ever on your back!

Honestly race should be a perk, play what you want unless you are a min/maxer. Other than that player skill always makes up the difference in racial traits. =) But regardless Argonians are win.

I'm dusting off my Argonian Templar when TG hits. So easy for Temps to get major healing and I want to troll people by slamming healing pots.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I used my other character last nite to make a julianos set purple. For ease I made everything there even 2 inferno staff and 2 swords. I haven't slotted the swords yet, but I have them. I did the small re spec morphs to go back to puncturing sweeps and inner light.

Questing to get meteor as nova is not so great yet. I'm trying to use all my skills to level them up and choose what to use later, so the morphs re spec will likely come in handy some more to free up some skill points cheap. I'm kind of all over the place questing, sky's hard hunting, grinding etc.

So, the DW is supposed to be better for spell power somehow. I think. Should I start separating heals on DW bar and DPS on inferno staff? It's getting confusing with staffs on both bars.

For things like questing, skyshard hunting, world bosses, delves, etc. (open world pve content) there is a significantly lower demand for healing. In the vast majority of cases, you will be able to finish most content with just having BoL for those "oh crap" scenarios. When I do that content on my templar, I'm usually able to self-sustain the vast majority of content with just puncturing sweep, and BoL is rarely actually necessary for soloing. You can have things like puncturing sweep or dark flare, vamp's bane, etc. on either bar really, so I would suggest it's really a matter of preference and what you find fits your playstyle. Once you start doing group content like vet dungeons & trials, it's a good idea to limit your damage utility to your destro bar and your healing utility to your DW bar, generally speaking.
