Scrolling Combat Text

Is anyone else disappointed with what they new scrolling combat text looks like. To me it's just a bunch of number popping out over someone's head.

Skills get used so fast in combos that it's almost impossible to tell what has hit for what when watching videos. FTC seems to give alot more information in a much better way.

Is there even a damage log with this new combat text where you can check you damage after a fight has ended? What about buff timers? The thing needed more than anything on console.

I've been looking forward to SCT for consoles for months, but this just looks like a half assed attempt at making something like WoW.

Thoughts?


Might I add, I appreciate the fact they've put time and effort into it, but it's just not what I, or any of my friends I've spoke to were hoping for. Addons are made by one person, correct? How can 1 person make something that is vastly superior to what the developers can come up with?

    I don't like where its popping up, I appreciate the effort but it lacks customization like AUI.

    Yeah, I am an Xbox player and I am disappointed. The text is clean and does not clutter the interface but the fact that there are no buff/de-buff timers is horrendous. What MMO does not include these timers? Literally, I have to try to guess when things run out...

    Well it called scrolling combat text. Not scrolling combat text with buff timers. For what it is, the SCT looks cleaner and a lot better than PC add ons. They said they going to introduce buff timers later maybe when console gets text chat so we can also get a combat text log to go with it. They clearly made buffs visuals to be different from other mmos. So use the visual indications until we get some buff timers.

    Discussion elsewhere suggested a change that puts a small version of the skill icon next to the text. I think this is a good idea, and if ZOS does not do it, some add-on writer will try to do it for them.

    I like it. It is nice and simple. Most of the time i do not use such addons when I play. I just use them when I test the skills cause you never know how a skill works in this game.

    Put your feedback in the official feedback thread and hopefully they'll make some changes. I'd like to run that instead of addons to give me the most frames possible in pvp, but right now it's meh.

    I actually like it. I wanted something simple, clean and wasn't too in the way. It was the perfect solution. I hope they don't change a thing.

    The scrolling text itself is perfect. Minimal, clean and not distracting.

    But console desperately needs buff and debuff timers.

    You know your icons flash or De-highlight when your buff is over. Also most buffs have some sort of animation and audio that plays letting you know when your buff is over , or ready to be activated.

    Something is better than nothing, at some point im sure we'll get more.

    What I plan on doing is using the "record" that option, or set up a recording, then pause it to see exact stas :)

    I'm still using oldschool Foundry Tactical Combat and I love it. I still think they should add training dummies somewhere though.

    I really wanted hp/stat numbers as well as %.

    Still a stupid idea to make some skills be based on % hp left then not add % hp into the game...

    You want to execute someone, guess what hp% there on and hope they actually are.
