If you sold Transmogrify Scrolls in the Crown Store that let people change the look of any piece of Armour or Weapon to any style they wanted. Maybe selling them in stacks of 10 for 500 Crowns, that would be pretty great.

I dont like the idea. You cant really mix and match pieces if trying on each piece costs you RL money. Id rather have a vanity tab you unlock with a single 1k or 2k purchase.

If they let you preview each piece, maybe it opens a menu which has all the styles available and you can preview each on on the piece of gear you selected before confirming.

    I wouldn't buy them.
This borders bad business and would definately cause an uproar because ZOS keeps saying things in the crown store would be attainable in game.
Obviously excluding costumes and mount artwork...cause mounts and costumes are available in the game, the only way this works is if there is a vendor in the game which charges gold for such services.

Well, I'll be happy with any way that they may be able to include transmogrification, I just assumed that implementing them via the Crown Store would be the most likely with ZOS.

Thats still ripping players off. ZOS should sell access to a vanity tab as a one time deal. Have you seen the assistant NPCs coming to the cash shop in TG? Youre buying permanent access to them and not paying each time you want to use them.

Mimic stones are for crafting, not changing the looks of already existing items.

Doesn't it makes a lot more sense to just allow ppl (crafters) to choose artwork as long as it's unlocked via a motif or the existing systems in place.

I had an idea that wasn't overly popular but all in all, players should have some way to access the existing artwork of crafter armor. To add to it, perhaps crafters and non-crafters could research patterns and use a "mimic stone" as mentioned above to achieve your suggestion.

Not that it had to work this way either but the crown store is a big no, no.
They are headed down a path that will end up making a buy to play game a F2P model which is a bad situation given the history and the audiences involved

The Transmogrify idea, yes. Especially for dropped sets that you may not like the look of.

I think it should be an in game passive tho.
We do have 10 levels of crafting skill sitting around doing nothing. Make it a passive for reaching lvl 50 and then you can change any piece to a Motif you know.

Oh, and also to be able to change dresses (robes) into jerkins.

That gives me an idea, maybe a crafting achievement, if you reach level 50 in all crafting professions and learn all traits it could be some sort of reward, just an idea though.

What's the point in a craftsman learning a particular style skill if any end user can simply switch any gear to it anyway? I never have understood that approach.

The only change I'd like to see in crafting is the ability for a suitably skilled craftsman to be able to repair stuff, perhaps as an additional skill line to making it. Just leave the cash shop out of it, however!

The problem with the crafting solution is that not all visual motifs are craftable and neither are all armor sets.

As soon as the new DLC comes out there will be stones you can buy in the store that will let you craft any type of armor or weapon you want. Same thing, really.

I have to disagree. If you already own a crafted set or armor that you use and do not want to burn another 1000 mats to craft one that looks way cooler then transmog would be a nice addition.

I hope they never do this.

If you are looking for ways to make money in the Crown Store, they could make all new armor sets bland and uninspiring and then offer these costumes in the Crown Store so that people could customize the appearance. If they bound the Crown costume to the armor, they could sell them for cheap, but keep people coming back for more whenever they changed armor.

More conservatively, I could totally see them thinking hard about limited edition cosmetic set costumes for 1000-2000 Crowns. Pick up a costume that looks like the Immortal Warrior Set and you can put this over anything else you might be wearing, if you are wearing anything at all.

I hope they never do this, either.

I think it is fine if you want to wear a costume over your armor, but armor appearance and set bonuses go together. I would prefer if they continued to follow that pattern.

Once you can make armor look like something that it is not, then is the player being deceptive? There is a difference between hiding the armor and making it look like you are wearing something else. It is one thing to wear level 1 homespun covered by a wedding dress, and quite another to make it look like the Immortal Warrior Set.

So, could someone then craft some armor using a really common style, buy a transmog scroll and change it to a REALLY rare style?

I disagree with making this a crown store item. I do agree with allowing a character that has learned a style be able to convert anything into that style, much like we can do with Imperial if you have that. (Might have to have it with the CE but I dont remember at this point).

I could see that breaking the time sinks ZOS has in place with gathering the rare material types.

The way transmog works is you gotta have BOTH items, the one with the stats you want to keep AND also the one with the desired appearance. I repeat, you must have both items in your bag. They both must be equippable on your character. They must BOTH be of the same armour type (in most other MMOs this is how it is, so you can't mog a full set of light armour into heavy etc, results in people complaining).

The transmog system mentioned above uses the name of the system in World of Warcraft.

However, the stones part is currently how things work in Guild Wars 2.

In both games, there is the item with stats and the item with the appearance, that are combined.

There is also a similar system in Aion, where 2 items are combined, the stats and the skin. Simples.
