Can we do Cadwell's silver/gold without the main quest?

Currently my newest DK is VR13. Sadly I haven't even finished the Shadow of Sancre Tor quest, but I'd like to visit Cadwell's for a few reasons. Is there any way to bypass the boring main quest and go straight there? Will this be an option in the future (as long as you're veteran rank)?

Is that to both questions? ie: will it be available in the future?

Yes you can as of the DLC. Silver starts at vr1 and you get to choose which zone you start in first.

Oh brilliant - so when you say DLC, I assume you mean Thieves Guild? And you can go straight there without having to complete the main story?

I'm not sure how they are going to work it when Vet ranks go away in DB. They said you will be able to do silver OR gold but it's not clear whether it will open the zones individually or not.

I think you will still have to complete the Main story to get there, tho. It's kind of the milestone and will be more so after vet is dropped.

Ah ok, so you'll be able to change the order of Gold and Silver, but still have to complete the main story to unlock them, by the sounds of it.
I just find the main quest drawn out, boring and far too easy. I'd assume I would have to complete Coldharbour in order to unlock Cadwell's? That's a problem because everything is scaled to level level 40+ and I'm VR13...

Yeh that's a problem. I just did 3 chapters in a row on a lowbie and it was ridiculously easy, altho kind of nice to just do the story without pauses.

Only thing I can say is just faceroll thru it and get it over with.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Didn't see any mention of Access to content from other alliances in any order you choose upon reaching Veteran Rank 1. Is that not in this build, or did I just miss it in the patch notes? (There were quite a lot of them ;) )

    A couple of other questions:

The new grouping tool will grant a "fairly sizeable chunk of experience" with "subsequent runs giving slightly less experience". Could we have some values for this, say for a VR1 or VR16 character? Since you're now going to show XP gains in loot history (awesome!), it seems XP values will become more transparent.

Will the new trespassing mechanic ever filter back into the existing zones? "Trespassing" doesn't really mean much right now.

The "access to content from other alliances at VR1" change will be in a future patch, just didn't make it into this first one. For the XP bonus, it actually depends on a lot of factors (math...) so there's not a solid, flat number. Regarding trespassing, I'm actually not sure, sorry!

Lol I might have to. I wouldn't mind so much if I was getting something out of it, but at this point there will be no exp, so it just feels like wasted time. If Coldharbour main story was made up of player scaled quests it might have been a better idea.

    Thanks for the info anyway!

    Not right now.
But those areas WILL be available, without having to beat molag bal, yes.
However, they will NOT be "cadwell's silver / gold", because you hae not yet done 'bronze'.
So yea. Zo$ acknowledged the grind spots.

Oh, what is bronze? (Sorry for the all questions guys. I'm a total PVE noob if you can't already tell). I don't really understand how this all works, or will work in the future. Just trying to get some clarity on the matter to figure out if it's worth waiting until they change it, or to just steamroll it all now.

Bronze is basically the 1-50 story.
Not being able to currently get to the silver/zones without completing bronze is definitely annoying. I've fought Molag Bal once, why force me to do it again on every alt?

Ah right, thank you. Yeah it's pretty tedious. Like I said though, I wouldn't mind if Coldharbour quests were scaled, so you could at least earn exp and stuff (just like all the other main story quests before it). At VR13 it's going to be like strolling through the park punching babies.

      Now:
-1 main story (opens up based on a min level specific to one character)
-2 next is Cadwell quests after completing the last main quest who is inside of your home faction's Harbortage.
-3 he's in the far back and he offers you the chance to experience another faction if you'd like. You start in silver and cannot choose which faction, it's currently a set order.
-4 once you start, you have certain main faction quests found in Cadwell Almanac seen in your log
-5 completing the pre requisite quests get you to the Cadwell quests which is basically doing the main quest line for each zone (excluding the faction starter zone )

      After change
-1 hit VR 1 and (unknown where/how) talk to Cadwell and choose which faction to start in for silver (from the remaining 2)
      -2 everything else is unchanged.

As boring as it sounds, you should just plow through the main quest because it sets up the story line for the silver and gold areas later on. At v13 it shouldn't take you more than a few hours. And you do get the xp for completing the quests, not much but some xp

I do the main quest for the xp. And because I don't feel a character is worthy of standing among the others unless they prove themselves by kicking Molag's balls.

But should you be forced to do that on every alt?

I think it should be required once, but after that it should be optional like the tutorial.

They should just make all the zones accessible when you hit VR 1 and scale them like Orsinium is. Making the game actually feel like an 'open' game, rather than a railroad game.

Agreed, and I think "suffer" is the right word to use.
