It's still too early to say how well it's going to preform as nothing has really been tested pvp wise other than 1v1.
Sounds like a bad group.
Vicious Death explosion is bypassing the AOE caps in a way.
Lets say you duo bomb a group with Proxy Det + Soul Tether, 2x 6 ppl will take 100% dmg.
Proxy Det dmg has been bufffed by 36% so will hit very hard and dmg can easily be buffed with Mage Light.
At least 6 ppl will die from the initial burst, only shield stacking sorcs might have a small chance to survive.
Those 6 ppl will all explode, thats an aoe dmg of 6 x 15k right after being hit with 2x Proxy Det and 2x Soul Tether.
There's no way to mitigate aoe burst dmg like that, except for DKs with Magma Shell ofc.

This, or not have your whole group stand within a 5m circle. You could also move out of the bomb.

Blocking does not significantly improve the group's survivability in the test, as I already mentioned. Bombing with block bypassing CC like fear is all you need. Timed right, the ones who you fear die in the bomb, and their VD explosions kill everything through block all the same. How about blocking?Septimus_Magna wrote: »HoloYoitsu wrote: »Not true. Sounds like you're trying to be smug. It was pure testing, not combat, so bad and good don't really come into play. You don't have to be a bad or good player to hold block, stand inside a nova or turn undead, and see if you die or not to 2 people. Next comment?

Of course you could just say "spread out when you get bombed", but that overlooks the entire purpose of the test. There are lots of situations where you cannot spread out, that's what we were trying to duplicate in the testing.
As far as Manokin goes, try testing it with your own guild before you're going to start name calling.

How much resist and HP did the guys have? Pure damage tests. Max CP into magic resist, all blocking and healing. All you have to do is kill ONE person and the burst damage from Vicious Death causes a chain reaction.
As for Mano, I still don't get you on this issue. If it were so easy to play it loose and spread out and avoid bombs inside keeps you would do it every time you fight me. Your actual options are "kite" and "bomb harder", so I'm not sure why you're taking this stand.

Actually you just need one of them to die to whipe the whole group, and if you fear-bomb this is a very likely scenario.
A question for you guys, I think I've read somewhere that the VD explosion is not subject to battle spirit, is this correct?
Edit: Nevermind, seems to be tooltip only.
And a question to the NA folks, since I can't test it in the no CP campaign: when putting 100CP into Thaumaturge, my VD tooltip (on a blue item) goes up to ~19k. Is this correct or a visual bug? Thaumaturge seems to be totally bugged somehow. But this would result in 30k crits... maybe this has been tested already, but I can't find it right now. Any insight?

3 Willpower, 2 Torugs
The dps loss is pretty minimal between 5 VD and 3 willpower/2 torugs. Torug is identical to the 2 piece on VD, the magicka from willpower 2 piece is identical to the 3 piece VD, so literally the only 'loss' is trading the enhanced spell dmg from the willpower 3 piece for a spell crit bonus on VD 4 piece and then 5 piece VD bonus as gravy.
So, think about that, you're only losing out on the willpower spell dmg to gain more spell crit and the ability to obliterate people near enemies you kill, it's barely a blip on the radar for dps loss from regular abilities.

Willpower 2 piece is at least 1.5x stronger than regular piece bonuses, it's something like 1500 Magicka to 927 Magicka.
Not to mention everyone assumes that this set is going to be given out like candy when the update comes...it's gonna be hella long time before you have entire raid groups outfitted with this. Your giving up some damage and sustain in hopes that you can get the kill to proc the set.

The tradeoff is, like Zheg said, minimal if anything and totally worth it...I'll gladly gain more spell crit, pair it with the crit i get from Julianos, and go crazy with insane prox det damage thanks to max cp and watching things go boom when i get a killing blow.
You're right in that it will take a while to obtain the set as I'm assuming people will be selling it at ridiculous prices but hey...if you got the cash why not? I'll be running what i have currently until i get VD...time to cash in on everyone that owes me a favor

It's still too early to say how well it's going to preform as nothing has really been tested pvp wise other than 1v1.
What are you giving up? Not a whole lot really...5 Julianos 5 VD 1/2 Kena....what is it you're giving up?

I'm not saying it's not worth it, you just asked what your giving up, so I answered. I don't play Magicka builds really anymore so not that intriguing to me, I'll just sell any pieces I get, if any. I wouldn't pay top dollar for it either as I don't see using it outside of zerg diving.
FWIW I'd much rather go with Kags considering all the Impen people *should* be wearing.

Which means players will be focused on making AP above all else for worthy mails until the set is available, and that's something we need more of right? Even we're planning on letting the map go to crap (mostly) until we have enough people geared out in this, and we're one of the most objective focused guilds, so that should say something.
And again, as Grxknight said, this is the tradeoff:
500 magicka and ~190 spell dmg
for
spell crit and "When you kill a player they violently explode for 14895 Flame Damage", it really shouldn't even be a question of which is best to run in pvp.

Any pieces of VD you get then pm me I'll buy them off of you
Saddest part about these changes is that they will likely drive away new PvP players that experience these stupid mechanics. Probably likely to lose a significant portion of the existing casual player base as well. Any hope of increasing the player base seems gone with changes like these.
I seriously hope I'm wrong but I can't see changes like these being healthy for the game in the long run. For all the imperfections ,which there are many, it still has the best action oriented PvP I've ever experienced. I loath the thought of looking for another game....

New PvP players generally aren't running around cyrodiil stacked on a 5m circle.
