Overall the game has a good foundation. Combat, ES lore, actual narrative in their quests instead of "kill X monsters" all serve as a good foundation to build on.
But most of their DLCs were either a "meh" or a full blunder (*cough* IC *cough*). But definite improvements were made with Orsinium and TG looks promising.

But if ZOS has any weakpoints I'd say it would PvP and updated group content. But if they could fix the lag and update/add trials, then I'd say it would be in a decent place. Once PvP and group content is equal to the PvE content in terms of quality/attention, then ZOS will have a pretty killer game.

Super unbalanced, combat is awful unless you have a specific spec and gear, and there are still bugs from year 1...

But it has potential to be better. I still think it looks nice and the music is fantastic!

Don't get me wrong, I love ESO... but the way a number of things have been put to the wayside or neglected leave me a little disappointed. Balance took a nosedive after the release of 1.6 with the removal of softcaps, and has increasingly become more and more about stacking spell/weapon power and stam/magicka (pretty much every other stat doesn't matter anymore). This a heavily DPS favored game.

Tanks and Healers feel less and less welcome with each major update and dedicated Templars like myself are sick of the devs clear lack of understanding to what is wrong with our class and what we really need to be viable in this game for once.

This game still has a lot of potential, but as months pass and things continue to collect dust, remain broken, or stay unbalanced, my hope fades more and more.

6/10 - it has great potential, but if ZOS will learn how to run it properly is a big question mark.

To me the best MMO is EVE online - top service, no cash grabs, top balanced (there is no "best" in EVE), very responsive bug fixing (well, it is hard to even find a bug in EVE), sandbox universe, awesome player-driven economy, good pve/pvp mix.

If ZOS would eventually get to a state to deliver this kind of service quality, then ESO could become a 9/10.

I love the potential this game has. Although, I don't think Wrobel should be a lead designer, he should remain on the team. But that whole team needs to be cycled. There is a massive imbalance and the team seems ill equipped to handle what needs to happen.
Healing was nerfed across the board and made more difficult to allow healers to do their jobs. Tanking took a nosedive with the no regen during block change and the lack of decent heavy armor perks. Templars called out for buffs, nerfs came, no justification.
DKs are the only class that doesn't have a proper execute, the reason given is anti-homogeneous gameplay which is a *** excuse considering the nerfs to healing (especially) Templar "to bring it in line with healers of other classes" thereby forcing homogeneous gameplay.
Templars have a stamina dump. NBs have a stamina dump. DKs should be provided a comparable stamina dump. Stamsorcs need an act of God to bring them in line with other classes. Wrecking Blow is a horrible skill that grants Empower, CCs, and does a whallop of damage and is spammed consistently in both PvP and PvE. I don't blame the spammers, primarily DKs and Sorcs because they have no other options.
NBs received some changes to Cloak, which imho is a mixed bag, but I like them. What I don't like is a dev team with their heads up their asses thinking locking a signature skill from use for up to 28secs was balance. Able to view the target, target, and damage? Sure. The other classes need some anti-NB-Cloak defense. Locking the skill down is downright stupid.
DKs using poison instead of fire? Meh, I'll judge it when I see a more finished idea. I find it interesting and can understand the decisions made to get to that conclusion.

Of all of my complaints, chief among them is the idiotic idea that any changes, fixes, or balancing is held off until a DLC product is rolled out. This sends the wrong message to fans and it makes bring in new players more difficult.

Speaking of nerfs and buffs. The key is baby steps. SMALL changes. Not gimping a class while making another OP.

    Potential 10/10
    Currently 6/10

    I'd have to say 6.5.

It's definitely better than it was at launch and some of the upcoming changes look very promising - barber shop, crafting bags, housing, spellcrafting, and bye bye to animation cancelling - but right now it's still a mixed bag. Great single player story, quests, combat etc brought down by eg. stupidly annoying inventory management, not being able to dye costumes etc.

A year from now I'd hope be giving it at least a 9.

OK so my vote doesn't mean much since this is also the first MMO I've played :#

But after almost 2 years in ESO, I'm still having fun...and the way I used to burn through games over the past 20+ years, that should count for something.

I'll just keep enjoying the ride until the fun stops.

I just hope ZOS fixes a few more pot-holes along the way ;)

    I give it a 5 out of 10.

I played far better mmo's which eventually had the plug pulled.

I did like the main story, but I find the PvE part not fun to do again. Also the dailies and dungeons is not something I do much because it gets old real fast.
Other activities, like fishing, are very lame in this game. Crafting is mediocre compared to the crafting in games like Ryzom, SWG and Vanguard.
Freedom in this game is non existent (lots of invisible walls, sliding of rooftops) and exploration is non rewarding. Most stuff to explore is given away on radar and it's easy to "discover" al the locales very quick on a map

I do like is PvP. I love the big battles and sieging keeps, but:
    - Lag
    - Zerg groups pressing only proxy deto, steel tornado and other AOE (which really ruins gameplay imho as there is little to do against them.)

When the game came out, I would give it an 8/10. but after 1.2.3 it went backwards.

The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

ESO is the only MMO I have ever played and to be honest i am not even looking for others... I live in ESO,
Every minute i can play it, I do....

Yes there are issues i would like to see addressed as all of us would....

Bugs that have existed forever and never seem to get fixed....

I wish Zennimax would STOP creating new content and focus on FIXING what is wrong with the game....
When you add new stuff to a flawed base, the flaw in the base becomes more obvious which is what we as gamers are experiencing now.... Zenni needs to figure out these issues, implement PROPER solutions, not band aids. Surely things like skills and how they function are stored in some kind of DB and changing them should amount to 10 minutes work, however if you have coded these into the code...........lol... shame....................

Zenni you need to step back, take a look at what you have done and how you intend to fix it....... I read a mans book, Watts Humphreys who turned IBM's development woes into their flagship... he said that sometimes you need to STOP, Assess where you are, Investigate why you are where you are, Adjust or make a new plan and THEN only should you jump back into the rat race of development...Maybe this is what you as Zenni need to do NOW before it is too late..

They have people who understand the game and play the game alot who they should contract in to assist with making of some critical decisions for the future of the game...

I still believe this is the best game i have ever played, bugs and all..

In detail this decision strongly depends on what you played before and what kind of style you prefer, like...

    - lone wolf/team player
    - PVE/PVP
    - casual/hardcore
    - "take me by the hand"-story line / go and find your way

In my case my first big MMO love was called "Anarchy Online" (AO) (I also played stuff like GW, WOW, LA2, Cabal and god knows what else). On that way I am used to a gameplay where I havnt any clue at the beginning, what to do. There where only few NPC giving you quests, you spend a lot of time on "exploring" and finding a good spot for xp or items (which is called grinding nowadays - but back than it was fun), you had a huge skill tree with (for the start too) many decision to make. ESO just takes you by your hand and tells you to go to the quest marker and hit "E" as often as you can. The lore is great but you dont have to know/read it, to be succesfull. Most important for me at AO: You didnt have a "you need lvl X to wear a specific item" (in most cases) - you only need a certain amount of points in specific skills - which made it possible to create awesome builds (since items can push these skills or skills that make you able to wear items that push this skills or or or..) if you're clever enough, and have the items or know where to find/farm them. There are way more possibillities to build a unique setup, which is designed for special tasks/cases (at least in the basic game). In ESO its just like "use Set x/y on your lvl and the following skills" and try to encounter every possible enemy (ok, some items need to be farmed ardously in PVE or PVP - which is a good point - but only few). On the other hand the restriction to only 6 skills per slotbar (so 12 at all with two bars) is a very good thing in ESO so you wont see anyone using all kind of stuff/skills available at the same time (which was anoying at END Game of AO). Big plus for ESO is the PVP Siege/Keep System - its extrem fun once its working without lags.Ah, a not to forget the really, really nice settings and graphics - when your wandering around the world really feels alive and handmade, like someone really had a thought why this skelleton is laying there (+ a letter for the lore) or why this tree is overgrown with moss - the atmosphere just feels right.

Speaking of customer support and development it is allways difficult for a game provider to satisfy all his customers. Helping with/fixing bugs should allways be on top of the list, even if there is a new DLC in progress, the content allready online should work properly. To find a good balancing is also really difficult. You will never find the perfect constallation since there will be allways people complaining on what is wrong in their opinion.

    To summerize:
ESO has great atmosphere, lore and END-Game PVP and PVE (at least for frequent casual gamers, who will be the majority of money spending users). It is easy to understand the basics mechanism of combat and crafting and it is challange to really master some of the high performance builds with their special setup of skill. Still this game is too easy at some point, compared to my personel MMO experience so far (I allways lose interest in things I can see through too fast), but for most people it seems to be the right amount of difficulty.

As long as the support will not lag behind too far from the needs of the players and as long as they will keep throwing (good quality) content at the players, people will play this game and pay for it, which is still the main reason for ZOS to run a game like this. My personal, special needs towards an MMO wont ever be satisfied completly since I am grieving after a kind of game or special aspects, that most people wont like to play - and this will apply to many players at a certain point. So after all getting like 700k players (surely not the actual numbers but i read them somewhere) seems to be a sign that they meet the basic desire of many players and a 6/10 or better should be the right assesment from picky critics.

    Enjoy your day.

As an MMO I suppose it does ok..

It has alot of the typical MMO stuff,

Cardboard cutout npc with audio files set to spam - CHECK
Enemies that all seem to just stand around doing nothing yet are a massive danger to the world - CHECK
A skill bar instead of a more action based combat system - CHECK
A very theme park style level gated map system - CHECK

The game was fun on the first playthrough of the story (daggerfall side).

After getting to vet 12 and not liking Craglorn a single bit and each attempt at a new character making my head hurt at repeating the content again I stopped playing, maybe there is better content now?

The lag in pvp was horrible, the worst lag in an online game I have ever seen, have they fixed it yet?

So overall I enjoyed the story but the world feels static, the skill bar was annoying, and level gating new area's felt wrong considering it is based on TES.

Some of my gripes may have been addressed by now, some won't be addressed because it is an MMO or because it is a design decision the devs made and are proud of.

After experiencing pretty much all the game has to offer, I can honestly give it a solid 6/10. It HAS the potential but needs a healthy growth spurt before it'll entice me to come back.

    Things ESO does well:

-Combat (let's face it, it's actually really good for an MMO)
    -Class versatility (in theory)
    -Elder Scrolls lore
-Quest lines are not just variations on "fetch quests"; even if choices are illusory, the quests are decent
    -Large scale PvP (in theory)
-Open trade market (again, in theory)

    Things ESO needs work on:

-Endgame content (this one is the top of my personal list)
    -Further class balance and tweaks
    -More PvP options
    -More class options
    -BoP and RNG need addressing

This is my 3rd MMO and the one I've stuck with the longest by far (since early beta), and still enjoying enormously today. It's actually become more fun as most of my play is now grouped with hubby and some very good friends. Between us, we've been tackling Craglorn, Imperial CIty and even got me into a bit of PvP now and again, which takes me back to my Quake days! Good times. :)

If there is a fix ready (for example the costumes have had a good overhaul on the PTS), then push that fix out live NOW, not in a few weeks time with the DLC. If it's fixed, push it, let us have it. Because of this, I give it 8/10.
