New motifs are not as exciting as they could be due to the lack of a transmogrify system

I'm not even really affected by this right now, because I just came back to the game and don't have an end-game character I'm currently trying to gear out, but I do remember the constant re-gearing that I had to do being one of the biggest reasons why I quit this game over a year ago. Between the massive set bonus changes and the constant VR cap increases, it really was a pain for people who like to min/max their characters to keep up.

New cosmetic options aren't exactly the same (because they are, as I said, merely cosmetic), but there definitely is that similar feeling of "why bother?" If I had already made, or were in the process of making, a full set of legendary endgame gear, exactly how happy do you think I would be to see a new motif that I really like announced to come in soon? The answer is "not very." I either need to grind out a set of gear again or be taunted by everyone else wearing this new, awesome motif.

In short, please prioritize whatever transmogrification system you are working on because the frequency with which you release new motifs works antithesis to the crafting system as it currently exists.

Yeah, my thought about transmogrify when WoW added it was: meh.

If I want the benefits of the armor, I wear the armor and accept the appearance. If I want the appearance, I accept the benefits of that armor. As someone who cares what they look like, I usually take benefit over appearances.

I never want to buy a Toyota and then make it look like a Ford.

Now that I think about this, I recall a discussion a while ago about this where the suggestion was to have costumes (crown store) that look like sets.

If search worked, I could look that up and see what was discussed back then.

P.S. - I use costumes to hide armor while not out adventuring, much as was suggested that people do in the recent costume interview on MMORPG. This is just a convenient way to "take off the armor" without going through the hassle.

Agreed, not to mention that 1 of my favorite hels in the game is the 1st tier breton heavy helm, but i cant have that look cause my level is higher....

Giving us a transmog ability would even more diversify the way we looked, giving us even more individuality.

But I will settle for spellcrafting....

We know they can do this as you can change any piece to Imperial if you bought the Imperial Edition.

Does this work for sets that have stacked set bonuses? I thought that this only worked for normal crafted sets with benefits that do not stack based on how many are equipped.

It works for "some" sets. For example, you could definitely convert Martial Knowledge to Imperial. This seems like such a no-brainer to me.

Step 1: Allow crafters to convert items to any known crafting style.
Step 2: List Motifs in crown store (already done for the most part).
    Step 3: Profit.

This has been a complaint of mine for a while now. It is not as bad as it used to be because most people wear a 5 piece crafted set, but I remember back in the day trying to blend 3 different sets together, which never looked good.

YESSS this sucks. OH you want one of those new flashy Thieves Guild DLC styles well you have to farm hours and hours just to craft new set of armor and then farm hours and hours just for the gold mats. so stupid it blows my mind.

You can convert any craftable set to Imperial style. You cannot convert dropped sets/special quest rewards to imperial style.

It is indeed a feature sorely missed.
Especially considering that people rarely wear seven pieces of one set, but usually five of one, two of another, to mix boni... and when the sets available are not the same visuals, well, some combinations work well together, others... much less so.

It would seem a transmogrification feature that becomes available for master crafters would be a good thing in this regard - it could be done much like temper improvement, requiring some resources and having a destruction chance that can be migrated by using more resources... Not like adjusting appereance has any game effect other then enjoyment (though of course, such a feature could at some point be expanded with other possibilities - changing traits or even raising the level of a piece of gear might be a possibility)

Master Crafters could make this item, so that people wearing BOP gear could use it too even if they aren't crafters themselves.

This is what happens when the progression system is champion points and not gear.

I don’t get why so many people rather be limited to costumes with the lack of mixing and matching.

Pre-made costumes are just awful, they lack any sense of player made creativity.

I think transmuting items like how it was done in Guild Wars 2 is a great idea. make it a crown store item if need be, but allow us to take all the stats and quality of 1 item, and apply it to the looks of another.

For example, if I didn't want to look like a demonic clown while wearing Molag Kena’s helm, then I should be able to transmute it's stats and effects onto say an Outlaw hood. given that I have both items and the crown store item needed to combine the two.

I know there are players out there that prefer everyone to look the same with the same items and costumes, and don’t believe that character appearance is important in a modern MMO. But I know it is important to some of us, so I am all in favour of more customization options.

I'm not sure why they aren't saying anything about it.
Is it so that in end game players have to recraft everything if they want to change their appearance?
Is it so that the players would by costumes?
Both seem pretty okay to me when I put myself in ZOS shoes.

In my own pair of shoes, however, I want this option real bad.

Thank you! I was beginning to think I was the only one who thinks that helm looks like some bad cosplay costume you would see worn at 2 a.m. by a stoned Juggallo in a mosh-pit for a GWAR tribute band.
