It's funny how many people are mentioning this 'wrobel' person all of a sudden.

    I assume he/she is a streamer/YouTube'r.

I wish people could form their own opinions without having to use someone else's thoughts.

I love ESO, and that's why I don't watch it on twitch or YouTube (well, we've all used YouTube for treasure maps).

Streamers do ruin games for a lot of people unfortunately, needless to say it is NOT their intention to do so, but it is true. People should just play the game and be happy we have such an open and diverse world, without the opinions of a few polluting the forum.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone by saying this, but it's just how I feel from seeing the forums lately.

    @Oldmanlawlor

um. i think wrobel is the combat mechanic manager/developer at zenimax

I'm assuming you often use jabs and javelin though, which fits you largely into option A. :)

    My option is not there..

I wanted to be a TANK! I could do without ever casting a heal period.

Templars should have been given a skill path that would allow them to tank.. If it came at the cost of never being able to cast a healing skill so be it!
Anything useful that players are wanting added into the game all fall under the category of "Yer ruinin my 'mersion!" Sallington

What? No, why would it? Option A sounds more like a melee DPS, while B is a range DPS. C is kind of a tanky healer, while D is sort of a heal-tank. But there is no option or a true tank, or even a pure healer build.

An option for my reason isn't there. Honestly, I picked on at the start and ran a heavy armour stamplar DPS since then before stamplars were a concept.

    None of those.

I wanted to be a healer and have access to all healing spells of the game. I did many different builds using a mix of Templar, Resto Staff and Mage Guild spells. Never used the rune though and I've always been a very mobile healer.

When I made the poll, I was essentially asking about which "flavor" you like, or really which Templar skill line attracted you most. Most of the Templar tanking tools are in the Aedric Spear line. If it wasn't Aedric Spear that attracted you as a tank, then I have no idea why you would choose Templar over Dk or Nightblade.

It sounds like you fit pretty well into option C with maybe the exception of heavy armor. :)

It's probably clear that I made the poll to be cheeky about Wrobel's "house" metaphor on ESO Live and try to confirm my thoughts that only a small minority of players actually want to foster a "stand in my house" playstyle for Templars. It has been a lot of fun reading the responses though. Personally, I just REALLY wish they would focus on option A, which is so far the most popular.

Actually no. If we go back the the original templar, the fifth skill in each line was useful to tanks, rune focus, sun shield, and blinding light. Blinding light produced a miss chance and AoE CC, but was replaced by with radiant destruction.

I wanted to be a sun-calling holy monk, sniping and burning foes to a crisp from a distance.
My Templar came out of what I thought an altmer would be like on the battlefield, plus I wanted a healer. What I ended up with is bow and restoration staff, all light armour and magicka focused, and very defensive and kite-ish like she's allergic to mobs getting in melee range. Most of the damage skills I'm running have cc side effects and the bow is pretty much purely for cc effects. She looks very elegant while hurling an aedric spear with godlike strength
I haven't equipped rune focus but I went for draining shot rather than magnum shot because I generally repel mobs from me and team mates, or herd them into a killbox area, rather than running away from them (unless they're immune to CC, of course). I generally go for the long range heals like grand healing and rushed ceremony and not the pbaoe stuff. There is very minimal house standing in going on. Does that mean I'm playing the templar class wrong??

I had a vision of making a D&D 3.5 version of a battle cleric in this game. A good balance of offensive power with the capability to heal the party/group members effectively.

    Wow, was I wrong.

Funny, because I absolutely HAET Aedric Spear powers. All of them. My Templar has none at all.

I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.
