Why would you ?
Being a registered user of these forums gives you access to posting in them; why would "unregister" achieve that you cannot do already (like, simply not post ? or not visit ?)
Now people ask for "rights to access removal" ... in the name of "freedom"... (/facepalm)

so i do not really understand your complain, it is my choice and you have zero words in it, but you can always say what you want, because of freedom.
Unsubscribe? As in...
Deactivate account? Or unsubscribe from threads?
The latter can be done easily in your options.

Registration on a forum simply ensures that other people cannot post in your name, that's all.
As to email notifications, you can deactivate them all in your options.
Your "request" sounds like a quit post in disguise.

But, I also don't think you should be able to delete and account and start a new one to hide from past misdeeds.
But, as long as personal information is stored on a server, it is vulnerable to hacking.

i do not mind post history stay visible, neither to start a new forum account, that is also impossible, because associated to your game account (once you unsuscribe from the forum you should loose the option to start a new one, even changing email adress)
one reason, that is not mine thought, is that you give your game account at your friend, but you do not like he post on your name.
this should be the most common case.

Giving your game account to a friend is against the TOS.
Can you guys just back off?!
OP asked about if there is any option to deactivate his account. If he wants to do so, it's his choice, and if you cannot offer your assistance, move on. Like seriously...... 'People posting in his name', what name? I have several different names in this game, and here I displayed only 2. If he doesn't want his account anymore, then he doesn't want it. Deactivate it. Sure it may not be 'his' but it is linked to his e-mail, name, has his password. He should have at least the right to remove those.
I think that every service should offer an option to deactivate the account. No more e-mail, password and other info stored.. Their post history though, that could be discussed. I hate having more accounts than needed associated to me and if I was to quit this game for real, I'd want it all deactivated.

Facebook is not a forum. And even then, you cannot delete a Facebook account, just deactivate it. Infos and history are still stored.

in a previous answer to you ... normally i do not like argue about logic, i'm pretty sure you are better then me, but any single blog, forum, website that i've seen has pretty much the unsuscribe option...
deactivate, unsuscribe, unregister is the option i'm looking for
