The stablemaster is bored.

Having maxed out the mount abilities long ago, my mount is starving! When might we see additions to mount progression?

I realize you can't just keep making horses faster and faster, but perhaps some abilities such as jumping, crossing water (less likely to dismount), or riding faster when in a herd (or Zerg!) could be improved.

Maybe with materials as feeds discoverable through questing, containers, or as a resource nodes.

Also please add horse breeding animations because I'm very lonely and thanks.

You no longer feed your mounts. You take riding lessons.

But your mounts aren't starving. Every time you log off, the stablemaster feeds a child to them. Two if it's a bear.
Not because bears need two, per se, but because they are godless killing machines.

So rest easy. The children are our future.

I suppose that's why there are very few children in Elder Scrolls.

    ROFL!!!

[On topic] If you think Stablemasters are bored, imagine how the Brewers and Armorers feel. I sold some vendor trash to an armorer and thought, "Huh, I remember briefly perusing an armorer's wares once at like level 11 when I couldn't hope to afford anything." And then quickly realized no one would ever buy anything from an Armorer, for any reason.

I love the idea of a mount skill to not dismount in the tiny little stream if lag makes you jump imperfectly when en route to Morkul Stronghold from one of the two Wayshrines senselessly places distant from the town, but conveniently near nothing at all.

Jumping skill would be a little dangerous, however. Few people who haven't constantly galloped across Cyrodiil realize that jump distance is related to movement speed (for instance, in Cyrodiil's Ward armor my toons can jump into the second floor of a couple towers) and that speed is maintained the better you maintain the same constant vertical level (so jumping from one hillock to the same height of the next maintains inertia and thus speed better). With the mount-glitch trick you can still occasionally "escape a Zone" and get off the properly developed map, so mount jumping increase (which I would LOVE) might cause some problems.

I am all for pimp my mount, different styles for head armour, horses can have hoof boots that you can dye different colours, saddle styles, bag styles and colours.

Would be cool if you could like pick all of this before hand and like OP suggested then you need to "gather" the materials to "craft" it?

Would give us something to do and it could be fun, PLUS it serves no real purpose to those who already hate mount feeding so there is no disadvantage to not doing it
