Item Lock Ability Needed

Okay so once upon a time, Lil Willie decided to earn some quick materials and xp by deconstructing the weapons and armor in his inventory. Unfortunately he was moving so fast that he accidentally deconstructed his spare Nerienth shoulders.

The End.

What does this have to do with the community? I think as a precautionary measure, we could benefit from an Item Lock ability where an item does not appear on crafting tables and you can not delete or enchant them. That will suppress the rate of 'Oh S***, I decon'd my monster set'.

Your thoughts?

If you are on the pc there is a great addon called item saver that does all the things you want and more.

Console, unfortunately, doesn't have such wonderful toys.

that addon imo is a great addon, but personally i do agree with the OP. i wish the game itself could provide the option for item save/lock.

Bound items should have a confirmation when you're deconstructing. Example: "You are about to Deconstruct a Bound item, do you wish to continue? Press (A) Yes or (B) for No.

People wouldn't read the confirmation, either.
Then they'd ask for a second or third confirmation confirming the confirmation they should have read the first time.

Crafting is not a race. Read and re-read directions before servicing.

In every case where I have purposely deconstructed a Nirn item, I have received the Nirncrux back. I think they do that on certain rare trait and style stones because of the rage factor in accidentally deconstructing a piece. So make sure the trait stone is not sitting somewhere in your inventory. But I do agree that some sort of in-game item saver needs to be implemented, especially for console users.

I agree this really ought to be a feature of the base game. It’s a very useful basic function. While of course it’s good practice to pay attention to details and not rush, it can still be all too easy to get into a rhythm when going down a long list and accidentally press E a hair too soon, or misread what it is after starting to glaze over with the tedium of deconstructing a bunch of stuff. Not to mention those moments of technical difficulties where say…. your mouse spazzed out and selected something other than what you intended.

A locking feature would also be useful when selling, trading, destroying to make space, remembering what you want to deposit at the bank, or making sure the wrong character doesn’t learn/use something you meant for another. I’m thankful that addons with this feature exist, but I really think that we shouldn’t need to patch up these little oversights with addons. I definitely feel for those on consoles who can’t use them.

Well I support that ability to lock your items.

I just wouldn't get my hopes up having it implemented.
