Guard Change and Why it Matters

If you haven't watched ESO Live from yesterday (2/12/2015), I urge you to because one big thing is lacking in this game "guard." If you don't know what this is, in almost every other MMO there's a tanking mechanic that allows a player to soak up damage from another player/npc that can be used in PvE/PvP. You toggle it on to individual player and you can swap it around as a primary means to support an important character (healer, DPS, etc).

This will add so much more game-play and mechanics to small group encounters I cannot thank ZOS enough for talking about it and hopefully receiving it in update 10. As the skill is pretty much useless now, it might make tanking, especially in PvP, a valuable commodity instead of a burden. GJ, what are you thoughts on guard?

    That's a good change indeed. But Tanks need much more, than just one skill from AW skill line.

    It's great to see them trying to make a useless skill useful, but it's kind of counter-intuitive to their server calculation argument. Seems like a scenario where this skill being viable would result in way more server calculations.

    Heavy armor passives will still be crap, and ZOS has a history of tweaking Alliance War skills to be the end-all fix-all solution to a certain problem. This would only be effective in pvp regarding the protection of a scroll carrier or a healer, but pve tanks need way more than a damage redirect skill.
