A lost templar in search of a new life...

Hello everyone !

So I've been playing a single templar my whole eso career and he's my only char worth mentioning. I also played as a healer all that time. I was really looking forward for the balance changes of this class, but well... I ended up disapointed like a lot of my fellow templar brothers.

So I was thinking I needed a change to bring back my interest in this game ! I am currently thinking of a respec toward a stamina tank build with high weapon dmg to contribute de DPS in dungeons. I would run with 5 pieces juggernaut, 3 pieces night mother, 1 molag kena and agility set. Main problem would be achieving high resists I think, but I'd try to compensate with high stamina for blocks, dodge etc.

But first of... Is it worth the trouble ? Are templar tanks any good ? Should I stick with healing ? Btw, I don't feel like rerolling for now as I do not wish to grind the vet levels again :P I'll wait for their removal.

What are your thoughts ? I am open to any suggestion regarding the future of my templar !

Thank you ! :)

Don't worry, eventually the nerf bat will rotate back around (in typical knee-jerk reaction) and every other class will be as nerfed as a templar. Until that time you can tank virtually any content on any class (so long as you're not looking for top 1% LB). Templar's can certainly make good tanks and I would suggest TamrielFoundry for good builds for it. Just google "TamrielFoundry Templar Theorycrafting".

Stick with healing it'll be fine. If dps are too dumb to get out of red circles no amount of BOL is gonna fix that.

Ya'll need to stop be so accepting of the ridiculous over-nerf that's about the shaft templar gameplay.

And for the OP - go magicka tank, not stamina. When the change was made to prevent stamina regen while blocking magicka tank templar became the only viable option. Devs will eventually catch on and fix that too so stamina tank will again be an option.

Or just do what the rest of the templars are doing. Start your new class now.
End the tedious inventory management game.

My templar is a tank first and a healer second. I really enjoy tanking with her. But in her tanking gear she does lousy DPS (which is fine, as it's not her job in a group setting).

But on the other hand, she is very hard to kill. I started taking her into PvP recently because I want to learn the ropes and level the skills on all four classes. I was using my heal/DPS set at first, but when I switched to her (PVE) tank gear, it usually took at least 5 people to take her down. It was a lot of fun.

I also played her a bit on PTS because I was concerned about the changes, but I haven't actually noticed any difference so far.

The changes in Update 9 are just two weeks old, and not even released, so it is far too early to be making final decisions. Even if they go out the door with changes exactly as they are today, I don't think that they will be any worse than they are today. Most Templars in the game will just adapt and keep going about doing what they do.

A lot of people are making it sound like Templars are being nerfed into nothing. From what I have seen, that is pretty much the opposite of what has actually happened. I see changes intended to balance out how the class is used. I would definitely not make any decisions based on forum wisdom without first checking out the characters on PTS and then on Live.

Don't join the crying bandwagon. Templars will really be no different than they are now. You'll manage the BoL change just fine. And other than that, they have become a bit stronger in some ways.

Templars will be just fine. It's that third lowest person who will be dirt napping.

Seriously though, they want to you cast breath of life less, so they made it heal less requiring you to cast it more or something like that. But they love us enough to nerf rapid maneuvers and buff sprint so we don't feel so slow, now if I just had all that well fitted stuff I deconstructed.

Sounds fun ! That is a bit what I would like to achieve hahaha :P What I hate about my actual magicka build is my lack of active defense...

I do not really care about the BoL nerf as i'll heal just fine with it. What I meant to say is that I have read soooo many feedback threads about templars and there were a lot of really great ideas to get templar on par with other classes (PvP wise) that simply got ignored by the devs...

But I am not here to complain again about templars guys ! Sorry if it looked the case. I am looking for ideas/thoughts about the build I first posted and any suggestion you guys have for a good build. I am looking forward for a little change on my character and I'll continue to enjoy my templar until the end ! :)
