I am pretty sure ZOS said they would add in new content like dark brotherhood and thieves guild a little after release for free. Now I come back to ESO after a few months of not playing and I see that thieves guild is a new pay to play dlc addition to the game....

why do you go on the forums to just post stupid *** like this? lol

No one said it would be free... Ever! If it was up to me it would still be sub and vr would be at 20 just for a round number. Of course the RNG would be better and mats would be easier to get, etc...
Sorcerna, proud beta sorc. RIP April 2014 to May 31 2016 DArk Brotherhood. Out of retirement for negates and encases. Sorcerna will be going back into retirement to be my main crafter Fall 2018. Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

If you are still subscribed, it's as free as it would have been in the context that statement was made in.

If you sub you get access exactly how you would have before they dropped the mandatory sub.

Yeah, back then you had to sub every month and any DLC would come at no extra cost - that is true, except there were no DLC's up until after console launch and payment model change.
It still holds true though - if you subscribe - you pay no "additional" money to access the DLC, just like originally invisioned.
Except nowadays if you don't sub, you only lose access to the DLC, whereas back then you lost access to entire game - it's all fair and and what was said is still true to some extent.

ZoS is actually very fair when it comes to DLC content and B2P model - most other MMO's still require you to buy the expansions even if you are a subscriber which IMO is too much.
ZoS may be many things, but they are not greedy by any means - getting a full ESO experience is MUCH cheaper than most other B2P/Sub Based MMO's and even F2P MMO's.
    Sometimes, I dream about...cheese...

Egonieser - v16 Nord Stamina Dragonborn Wannabe
Endoly - v16 Tiny Redguard Sharpened MaceBlade
Egosalina - v16 Breton Cheesus Beam Specialist
Egowen - v16 Dunmer Whipping Expert (Riding crops eluded her)
(Yes, I had to grind all these to v16)
Akamanakh - lvl 22 Khajiit GankBlade (Inspired by Top Cat)
Targos Icewind - lvl 34 Imperial (Future) Jabplar

Difference is that now the game is Buy-to-play, instead of Pay-to-play. They still give the DLCs for free to anyone that is subscribed.
I don't see a problem with a company seeking recompense for hard work. If they gave stuff like that away for free then they wouldn't make money, if they don't make money they have two options: Let the game die as their funds run out or go Pay-to-win..

It would have been free if The ElderScrolls Online remained Sub based only but since the game turned into b2p you either have to buy the Thieves Guild Expansion(I just call it Expansion  ) OR pay for a sub which is 13 Euro(seriously its easy to earn that much in 1 day if not less depending on your job.....) to have access to all the content plus getting 1.5k Crowns each month(If you let them pile up you will have way too many Crowns) and you can get the items in the crown shop(Including the DLC).

So honestly, get a job and you will earn enough to pay for a sub.

I got a job when I was 12 years old(I was helping my uncle) and he paid me, I conserved most of the money while the rest I used them to pay for a sub in WoW.
If I die tomorrow I do not want to think of the game I could of played today, therefor I will play whatever I want today while securing a future to play in as well.

A true gamer will think of all the possible outcomes and execute the one that is the hardest to accomplish.

I remember this as well but the statement was made when subscriptions were the implied business model.

13 Euro or 15 bucks in a day should be more than obtainable unless you live in Somalia....
