Imperial edition or Ornisium? What is the imperial race good for?

I intend to buy either of them (not both yet, since I have plenty of games I want to finish) but I just cant decide which one!
Imperial (should) give you the imperial race, which I am eager to try, while Ornisium gives you cuddly bears. My vote goes for Ornisium on this one, but I would like to hear more opinions, also if the imperial race is something worth getting excited for (I like playing from a far, basically a magician, I am not the close combat type of player, my reflexes are slow lel). So how much worse is an imperial compared to a high elf healer for example?

I could watch some videos online to see the difference in landscape on both, but I still want to get in there, and be surprised about how it looks!

And on another note, I know this sounds like a very terrible idea, but can you work out a wood elf archer, as a sorcerer? I want to make an archer realllllyyy badly, but as a nightblade I assumed you have mostly close combat; I might be wrong since I didnt try it, so I would like some insight on that!

Get orsinium if you want more content to play. Get the imperial upgrade if you want a white horse. The imperial race is a decent tank or stam build, but you could also go nord or redguard and function just as well

Thank you! Yes thats what I was afraid for, that I would have to use the imperial as a tank :(.
Is Ornisium ok for a lower lv player? I didnt spoil it for myself but saw quite a few thread titles, where people complained that you need to be a VR to play, and at the moment I try to focus on my sorceress.

Just remember imperial edition gives a race and horse. Orsinium gives content. Just do not get imperial edition confused with imperial city DLC, because those are two different things

Orsinium is a battle leveled area, so you should be able to play it since the start. Don't worry about that!

Imperial Edition also lets you craft Imperial armor and weapons; otherwise the Imperial motif is not easy to find/expensive in guild stores. It also lets you convert most pieces of armor to Imperial style.

Best of all, Imperial Edition gives you a pet mudcrab. ;)

Orsinium is much better, in my opinion. It adds quite a lot while imperial edition really just gives you an extra race and some other less than useful things.
Imperial is mainly used for both tanks and stamina dps's, due to the increase in maximum health and stamina.
And on another note, I know this sounds like a very terrible idea, but can you work out a wood elf archer, as a sorcerer? It should work.
Usually bow users go as a nightblade, though. I think.

Thank you guys! As much as I would love a mudcrab <3 I might have to go with Ornisium for more play time, and because Imperial edition doesnt sound like something I would get into right now :D!

Orsinium is a good value and worth the cash. I hope that helps.

If you're interested in crafting, Orsinium has some nice craftable gear sets as well which you would otherwise need to buy from other crafters at guild stores. You also have the Maelstrom Arena which is currently known for some of the best in slot weapons at the moment which you won't find anywhere else since they are bind on pickup.

Both,if you can.Not only do you get the Imperial horse, you get a fine race that looks quite goof when you make it.
    Nords are just plug ugly.
They happen to be my favorite race to play.

    Hold on.

The Imperial Editon has no landscapes. It has no content. It only gives you access to a tenth race, a pet mudcrab, rings of Mara and a white horse.
The Imperial City gives you a new zone in the middle of Cyrodiil. However, it doesn't include the Imperial race.

Imperials have excellent racial passives, but they're useless if you just want something new to do with your existing characters.

I would get Orsinium, it's the best DLC so far.
while Ornisium gives you cuddly bears.
That's the special Orsinium package combining the DLC and bears, all of which are also sold separately. You can buy a bear pet or mount without buying Orsinium, and vice versa.

Um... Am I the only one that thinks the OP might be confusing the "Imperial Edition" upgrade with the "Imperial City" DLC?

Comparing the Imperial Edition upgrade to the Orsinium DLC doesn't really make a ton of sense, which is why I'm guessing that the OP is actually trying to ask about the difference between the two DLCs (Imperial City and Orsinium). But maybe I'm wrong...

@SerenaAnastasia Do you realize that the "Imperial Edition upgrade", and the "Imperial City DLC", are two completely different things?

    EDIT:

Ah, I think Rosveen beat me to it.

Get Orsinium first, and if you have the money later get the imperial edition.

Orsinium is new content, the next new content will be Thieves Guild DLC(ESO Plus get all content free) so buy that after and after Thieves Guild it will be Dark Brotherhood, after that it will be Murkmire(Dont know if it will be DLC but since it adds new zone I think it will be something Like Orsinium(Wrothgar zone)) however it will be on Black Marsh and the Clockwork City well... I dont know anything about that...

Imperial Edition is for the Imperial Race, the white horse, the mudcrab, the crafting motif(Imperial Style is *** expensive) and allowing you to change the look of your armor to Imperial Style free of change.
If I die tomorrow I do not want to think of the game I could of played today, therefor I will play whatever I want today while securing a future to play in as well.

A true gamer will think of all the possible outcomes and execute the one that is the hardest to accomplish.

This is just my opinion. Imperials are a mediocre to good stamina race. Imperials are an excellent Tanking race. If your Imperial is not fighting close combat style, then you are going to waste the Red Diamond trait which requires melee combat to proc. A lot of people feel Imperial is better than Nord/Argonian in the tanking role but I'm not convinced. Nords and Argonians can passively recover better than an Imperial, though I still think they have a ways to go. The power of the Imperial tank is that he's innately going to hit harder and have more to block/dodge/bash/bf with. My opinion: Imperial Race highest and best use will always be tanking. Nowadays I think Orc is actually better, with innately superior mobility and strong stamina based damage, and only marginally less tough and significantly better health regen. That's just my opinion but I'm sticking with it for now. Just remember as someone who wants to play a distant fighter you might as well write off your Red Diamond passive.

I think a Bosmer mage could actually be a great thing, but you will have to build in a very specific way. Bosmers have the best Stamina Regeneration of any race. Its actually stupid how good their regeneration is (and honestly I think their regeneration levels probably would have made more sense with the Redguard race thematically, but I digress). One of the great difficulties/flaws of playing as a mage in Pvp is regeneration, and I would say that most of the really successful pvp Mages out there are at least taking consideration to buff their Stamina regeneration, so that they can break free or dodge roll when necessary. I don't imagine this is as much of a concern in pve and I couldn't really tell you as in pve challenge content I've always played as either the healer or the tank. It is my guess though that in pve you wouldn't need the stamina regeneration as much (but it couldn't hurt for getting out of red). The Bosmer has more in stamina though and superior stamina regeneration, so this would make it a lot easier to push more points into Magicka and work with fewer sets bonus to solve stamina regeneration flaws. I know a couple of people who built their Bosmer in this manner and they've done very well. In terms of PVE performance though, yeah the Bosmer is going to underperform when compared to an Altmer, Dunmer or Breton. I still think you can be successful as a Bosmer mage in that arena, but if pve leaderboards are your goal it might not be the best pick (Except maybe Maelstrom? Unfortunately I haven't had time to try that out yet - someone else can probably tell you, but I have a feeling that maelstrom places pvp-like requirements on the player to do sick amounts of damage and self mitigate.).

Based on what you have asked I would personally go with Wrothgar DLC. Unless you really want to play as an Imperial (they are cool for what they do) or get the white horse you might as well wait to get this one. I can't remember does the Imperial also give any-race any faction? I know it did when I got it, but I think that was part of the preorder. You might want to check into that as well.
