Anybody?

Reviving this question because it didn't seem to be answered with a simple "yes" or "no"... and the "from what I understand..." isn't a definite answer.

So again... does the Destruction Staff passive "Penetrating Magic" which the tooltip states, "Allows Destruction Staff SPELLS to ignore xx% of enemy's Spell Resistance"... the fact that it says, 'Destruction Staff Spells' seems to imply that it ONLY works with skill line casted spells and not basic weapon attacks. Thus I'm curious if anyone has a definitive answer if this passive also works with Destuction Staff basic weapon attacks or does it only work with skill line spells?!?

Thanks! I just didn't want to waste two skill points if it didn't work for basic attacks, since I'm not using any actual Destruction Staff skill line abilities.
