Would be great to be able to have the craftable negative potions have an actual use in the game. I would love it if when using them, instead of putting the negative effect on yourself, it poisons your weapon for 30 seconds and affects an enemy you attack. For example for 'Stun' poisons it would work like weapon enchants, proccing with a basic every 8 seconds or so.

Maybe add a function to rightclick potions and 'Make Poison' where it will be useable on your quickslot and not start the potion timer when used with other potions, yes that you would mean you can heal potion poison people :)

Thoughts?

Yesterday I was playing Skyrim again after a long break (since ESO is out I rarely went back to it) and was mixing potions and poisons for HOURS, just for the fun of it^^ I love using poisons on my weapons, especially Paralyze poisons, and my custom follower helps dealing with the rest when the enemy is knocked out ;)
I don't know how or if this would work in ESO, though.

The balancing of this would be quite the trick. Would they reduce the base weapon damage on something that could have a poison applied? Or would they keep the base damage the same and instead require it to be a non enchanted item? Or would they just allow it to be added, there by making it pretty much a requirement* to use?

*Not a stated requirement but if your enemy is using it, you will need to use too just like any other BiS gear.

This. Unless there is a significant combat cost to use poisons, it will become required to use them to remain competitive. What would the balance be?

Along this line of thought, I would say that crafted, 3 ingredient potions are not required to stay competative because of the major/minor buff system. For example, you could use a spell crit potion, or just slot mage light (and enjoy it's other bonus). Poisons could do the same. For example, a poison of ravage health could grant major defile (reduce healing taken) on enemies hit, so if you are running with a group that sets up meat bag catapults, it wouldn't help. A poison of ravage magicka could apply major breach, thereby not stacking with pierce armor or weakness to elements. This kind of system would help ensure that they are situational.

Poisoning weapons already is covered with the "enchantment" mechanic. And really, if you have a flame-enchanted weapon, its not like you could just smear poison on it as well, as the enchanted flames would burn it off...
So, I am not missing those poisons.

    How-ever...

I'd wish there was a different kind of alchemy solvent to make alchemical bombs. As in, a flask you can throw from your quickslot which will create an AoE smokecloud on impact affecting everyone caught in it with some alchemical effect - be it a "damage health" or something else". Some evaporating solvent, maybe? As in, use water for basic potions, use, say, alcohol for exploding potions? And some ingredients could have different effects based on solvent... what does "restore stamina" when mixed with water might "burst into flame" in alcohol for example...

And of course, I really, really want to see "sneak into house without getting spotted, add poison to goblet/wine bottle, sneak out again" kind of quests with DB... (Yeah, just like the initation quest to the assassins guild back in TES:Morrowind...)
