Lorebook issue

Apologies if this has already been brought up, but for the past few days literally every book/bookshelf/note I read I get the announcement on my screen saying 'lorebook discovered'. Getting real annoying

I don't think that's a bug, majority of things you read give that message

Unless you've already read it, in which case it is a bug.

But from what it sounds like you just recently unlocked eidetic memory, am I right?

That would be Eidetic Memory most likely, from completing the Mages Guild questline. Everything becomes a lorebook after you unlock that.

The real bug is me reading "A Request for Relief" in the Crafting Books section over and over again and it not registering that I've read it :'(.

Yeah would be friendlier if they just had "book discovered", so it's different from Mages Guild books...or gave you the ability to opt out of that alert (for general books you read, not for Mages Guild, as reading those books gives you xp in that skill line).

You'll also get skills updates when you read books along with those Lore Book pop ups.

What skills update with those regular books? As far as I know only Mages Guild lorebooks have any skillpoint value.

For some reason reading and getting new lore books, for the Eidetic memory does not give mages guild exp :(

I think they meant how some books will grant you a rank up in a certain skill line, like for example increasing your dual wielding by 1 level.

Oh right, yeah you get that, but it has nothing to do with the Eidetic Memory lorebook notification. You get skillups from those special books without having Eidetic Memory unlocked.

And there are only a limited number of them and they give their own special notification of a skillup (again nothing to do with Eidetic Memory "lorebook discovered" message).

Sorry yeah I only just recently finished the Mages quest line, turned the game off after I did so the next day I played I was confused as to why I was receiving the message haha. So does this contribute to my lorebook collection like before I had completed the mages quest line or? I'm confused as to what difference it makes

It makes no difference, only the special Mages Guild lorebooks add to Mages Guild skills. Those other books do nothing same as before (unless it's a skillup book for a weapon or etc), except now pop up an alert to let you know you just read them :F

It's not supposed to, only Shalidor's Library gives Mages Guild xp. I think Eidetic Memory is just there to drive completionists like me crazy :D
