I'm sure that a lot of the fervent criticisms posted here are motivated by a genuine desire to improve the game. But, hasn't the sense of wonder and exploration of adventuring in Tam'riel been lost along the way?

How can we revitalize that community and put into perspective the mini-game of critically managing Zenimax from inside the game?

I once came over a hill, maybe a week after launch, and saw a guy sitting in a chair on a cliff, just watching the sunset. I don't think I'll ever see that again.

I'm here for the long-haul, and it's definitely an evolving game culture. But if you ever need anything and see me playing the lute on some bridge, just ask.

    I don't think so.

personally, i spend 90% of my game time exploring what there is to find.

ive been playing mmos for a very long time, and while i don't particularly like the console combat in eso (prefer old wow/FF combat) this game put "massive" and "roleplay" back in mmorpg.

I started playing ESO in July and my main character is only V12, having recently started Cadwell's Gold. I'm purposely taking my time, listening to dialogue, exploring Tamriel and just trying to savor the game. There's no rush as far as I'm concerned. So I like to stop and enjoy the sunsets once in a while.

I don't know about you, but I feel some sort of unexplainable pressure to run the endgame content. If I just explore, I'll never get to see the whole game because the world is expanding every quarter. I have to progress at least as fast as the content is being created to see the whole world that was created. Also, I have to do the basics at least 4 times because I really enjoy playing every class.

Edit: Okay, so maybe it isn't so unexplainable.

I recall in the Wizardry RPG series your character's statistics and capabilities would degrade over time. I would expect that many ESO players would reroll under such circumstances, but hell, I'd like to getting old! Have any other games successfully done this? Or, some sort of contagion or disease mechanic? I think it would help put combat mechanics in perspective if some of these additional RPG elements were added.

I agree. As a new player (long time mmo-er) i took about 5 months to level to v16 (playing every day) and still felt immense pressure from guildies to level faster, even being offered psijic ambrosias for free. I purposely took my time, even completing every quest in some of the areas, just to enjoy. Its been a long, long time since i have been able to enjoy an mmo so completely from a pve angle (maybe since oblivion).

When i let my guildies know i didnt want to rush it and just enjoy they said the only thing to enjoy was end game content.

But then, the same people say they won't sub or get the orsinium dlc because its pve only.

Wrothgar is my favorite. I can literally spend hours just roaming the cliffs and ocean beaches, picking flowers and hanging with hoarkers, maybe fishing a bit, watching the sunrise.

Its a beautiful place we play in. Dont forget to enjoy it.

ppl just need a good guild of 20-30 good active members and the game becomes much better and enjoyable...

disabling zone chat in cyro also helps if you already have a good guild group running.

then organise duelling events..2v2 3v3 in pvp...maybe some RP events if you like that...PvE like trial runs for good score, maybe even do challenges like defeating dungs and stuff with 4 tanks, 4 dps, 4 healers and stuff like that idk

I love taking screenshots in this game. I agree the details in this game is really amazing. I love all the zones, I have my favorites though. But I like how each zone feels different to me. What really bugs me though. I usually don't listen through the storylines, because it snaps me out of my immersion, I want my DC/AD/EP characters to be loyal to their alliances.

Sorry? Who exactly are YOU to say who deserves to play this game and how they should play it? People have the right to play the game how they see fit and advance through it at their own pacing without someone telling them they don't belong here if they don't play your way..

This is a MMO after all, and it has consequences both directly and indirectly by playing in a certain way - meaning if you spend more time doing jumping jacks and less playing - you will fall behind in terms of power and wealth - and many people play for that particular aspect - who are you to say that they don't belong here? They maybe just wanted a MMO but with a familiar TES theme to it, not everyone here is a diehard Single Player TES junkie who plays just for the lore and pretty sunsets. While it is a nice addition to have - it is hardly a priority for many people, including me.

I had similar experiences in guilds. When newcontent was released the membership would "beat" it so quickly, that by the time I caught up it was hard to find anyone interested in grouping. I still have much of Upper Craglorn unfinished. It's not meant as a criticism, I just play so slowly!

And getting mad about an ignorant statement makes it so much better an I right? Seriously though the whole post was about just enjoying the game and you just took it from 0 to 100 real quick. Chill man, no point and getting mad just enjoy the game your way even though may need calm down or go find something else to do if that statement made your blood boil. You might want to ask your doctor about that.

One of the nice things about the old Group Dungeons that did not scale was going back as a Vet to faceroll everything. Not because it was easy, but because I could then take the time to look around and explore and enjoy the dungeons. Most of them are quite epic, only we miss them as the group tends to want to move through them as quickly as possible.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I want to know that as well.

I like to say that I try to enjoy the game as well as keep apace with the content. It isn't easy to do, particularly with the small amount of playtime I have had the last six months. I think this discussion does bring up one of the problems with MMO's. The wonder and enjoyment of a game can get lost in the continual power climb. This is why I really wish an MMO would do away with power climb/creep, and make the game about a horizontal progression, and enjoyment of the story. New gear is fine, but I think the problem is that they always try to one up old gear. It is a hollow and shallow experience (in my view) that is based solely on running the gear hamster wheel. This is one reason I tend to bring up the way gear operated in the original Star Wars Galaxies. It was just gear, and yes it could be made very good with the right crafters, it was fairly open as well, and capped by the reality of the game systems. I personally don't want to see them keep making new 'latest greatest' gear. I'd rather the game be more about player skill than one's ability/desire to grind the hell out of content until it isn't fun anymore. I guess this is why I like pvp (at least until a game ruins pvp by either turning it into a f2p-p2w or making it a grindfest to even be in the running to compete). In fact it is this grindfest exactly that I think burns out a lot of pvp players, and is why a lot of pvp players game-hop. They enjoy the mmo aspects and the pvp aspects, but they don't REALLY enjoy having to keep going back and grinding just so they can do what they really want to do (PVP).

If Zenimax really wanna boost the "exploration", their next DLC after thieves guild should be an area that doesn't appear on the map unless you actually go to that place (by walking there) yourself.

Simliar to when you discover locations, but instead it should be the actual parts of the map (roads mountains etc) that appear
