So, I've just done the maths on how feasible it is to start making money selling PA (using PS4/EU average prices) and thought I'd document it to give some people an idea.
Prices used are as follows:
1. Initial Outlay = 175k (25k per fragment)
2. Revenue (per batch of 4 PA) = 18k (4.5k per PA sold)
On-going Costs (per batch of 4 PA):
3, Perfect Roe = 13k (purchased) and 1.7k* (farmed)
4. Bervez Juice = 0.5k (purchased)
5. Frost Miriam = 0.5k (purchased)
6. Sales Commission = 1.26k
Below is the Payback Period (number of batches to break even) after which you should (if prices remain constant) start earning the associated profit per batch:
- Purchasing PP = 64 and 2.7k profit
- Farming PP = 12.5 and 14k profit
Assuming you do the writs and have maxed Hirelings and already have an abundance of BJs (calm down, you!) and FMs, the PPs and profits without these costs are:
- Purchasing PP = 47 and 3.7k profit
- Farming PP = 11.5 and 15k profit
If you then wanted to use one in every batch of PA for yourself: you'd only make money by farming the PR (as buying it would lose you 2.6k or 1.6k per batch depending on BJ and FM) but even then, you're looking at a PP of 16-18 batches.
Personal opinion:
Unless you already have at least 3 fragments or are wanting to farm for PR - it's not worthwhile. You'd be better off farming and selling PR for around 9k profit and buying a PA for 4.5k as you need it.
However, then the issue arises with you farming for 60 mins for 15 mins of free Experience and 4.5k profit. Seeing as you'll essentially be earning 4.5k for 45 mins work, the opportunity cost of losing 45 mins (4.5k) for 15 mins free Experience isn't worth it. (Or, you know, you could just buy 5x 2hr store for 1k Crowns (5 hours of free Experience) which is probably the best value item on there right now).
* 2.5k (average cost of purchasing 200 of the cheapest bait) / 1.5 PR (rough average return from personal experience)
~1 hour of farming time not accounted for
