Stam NB PvP Skill Help

Currently Vet1 and went in to PvP last night for the first time in a while but felt really underpowered against Vet1&2 players (even got ambushed and wrecked by a level 45 NB).

My 2H skill set up/rotation is this:
1. Momentum
- 30 seconds of 20% increased damage
2. Ambush
- Stun for 2.5 seconds and grants Emporer for 20% increased damage on next attack
3. Wrecking blow (spam until 50% health)
- Stun for 3.5 seconds and grants Emporer for 20% increased damage on next attack
4. Reverse Slice (spam until 25% health)
- 300% extra damage against enemies with <50% health
5. Killers blade (spam until dead)
- 300% extra damage against enemies with <25% health

I try and dodge and elude as much as possible whilst in combat as well and on paper this seems great - two stuns, high base damage and a lot of damage buffs - but for whatever reason it just wasn't working.

Anyone have any suggestions? Bad day at the office, I'm ***, or just missing something crucial?

Thanks

Whats your weapon damage? How many CP do you have into mighty?

you dont need WB, you dont need two executes.

replace WB with surprise attack, get rid of killers blade and replace it with mass hysteria..... now you have the exact same bar as every other NB in PVP.

rally, ambush, mass hysteria, surprise attack, execute when they get low..... always put your weapon away after getting a kill because your a boss
  • deltascout112
Your main bar is ugly that's why. Surprise -attack killers blade- dark cloak - mass hysteria - ambush as main dps bar. And if your running 2h then switch out mass hysteria for rally. On your second bar be your utility bar, also if running a 2h I recommend bow or even 1h shield for your back bar, Vigor for self healing , throw mass hysteria here, I usually keep snipe and poison injection for ranged fighting. Pick the utilities and buffs you want for your back bar. Like the ability that gives you 8% damage and after 4 light attacks procs spectral bow the name escapes me cause I'm in a truck driving 5 hours so I can't see my skills. But never have 2 of the same abilities on your bar, 2 executes is pointless just choose one. If your running 2h then use the 2h execute instead because it causes all abilities to deal increased damage after 30% I believe. Test it out. Also, your a nb, play the role. Sneak around. Attack from stealth. Find a target get closer hit dark cloak and hit surprise attack on them, hits like a Mack truck , it is very helpful to learn to "weave" so when you sneak up and surprise attack they are stunned immediately medium attack surprise attack medium surprise attack, fear bomb, surprise attack med attack execute etc etc

Well after this post I managed to find some more info into this. I've basically:
    1. Reset my attribute points to 0/0/49 as they were 3/14/32
    2. Changed my Mundus from Stam regen to increased Crit chance
    3. Bought Vet1 neck and rings to reduce Stam cost and increase regen (as I was just running around with player level stuff)
    4. Bought a 2h sword and bow with Precise on

This has changed my non PvP:
    - Health from 13k to 11k (get ~20k in PvP with food)
    - Stam from 16k to 20k
    - Stam regen from 1437 to 1398
    - Weapon damage from 1068 to 1115
    - Weapon critical from 27% (2h) and 34% (bow) to 45% and 49%, respectively
    - Physical resistance from 8166 to 8207

Currently only have one CP in to mighty (since I read your advice) but have 4 in the Crit damage one (forgot the name)

It seemed to make the difference: me and my friend (Vet2 Templar) got ambushed by a Vet7&8 and I managed to take them both down in around 20 seconds (he was just healing me as he realised late on and didn't have time to switch). Whereas I'm sure that beforehand it would've either been a stalemate or or I'd have died.

Still only 1.1k weapon damage? Id say this is your major reason. Most v16 stamblades are running around 4k weapon damage. V16 gold gear is literally pvp life changing!

I'm currently Vet1 (with around 30CP probably inefficiently allocated) using 5x Night's Silence and 2x Ashen Grip. I'm a few traits off getting Hunding's and Night Mother's which I'm hoping will make a big difference.

That hundings damage makes a noticeable difference when you make it purple/gold ! Also try and do 2 rings enchanted with weapon damage and the last maybe with recovery for some sustain!

Open with Ambush, apply Incapacitating Strike if available, weave light/heavy attack with Surprise Attack. Fear when you need to, Cloak when you need to, refresh your HoT's when you need to. Execute. Repeat.

For me using a 2h, my bar was...

    1. Cloak
    2. Ambush
    3. Momentum
    4. Killer's Blade
    5. Surprise Attack
    ULT - Incapacitating Strike

    2nd bar:

    1. Aspect of Terror
    2. Magnum Shot
    3. Vigor
    4. Shade or Blur
    5. Poison Arrow

Having them in that particular order made bar swapping way easier by minimizing the chance of error. Also having at least a 5 piece medium armor set goes a long way. The bonuses and passives really help out in PvP, especially medium armor passives since they compliment DPS and Bow utility very well. CP also makes a difference but that is gained in time.

Yeah I changed my skills to the below:

    Bow:
    1. Aspect of Terror
    2. Cloak
    3. Piercing Mark
    4. Poison Injection
    5. Focused Aim (will swap this out for either Blur (once morphed) or Vigor (once unlocked) as I hate the the cast time in large/distant battles and PI only does a little less damage)

    2h:
    1. Momentum
    2. Cloak
    3. Surprise Attack
    4. Ambush
    5. Killers Blade

I'm currently wearing 5x Night's Silence and 2x Ashen Grip as I'm still requiring some traits for Hunding's and Night Mothers and don't have skill points in Blacksmithing or Woodworking for the additional Ashen piece (friends are levelling those up). So I don't have the best gear sets but I'm doing the best with what I've got.

I'm going to be sad to see the Night's Silence sneak speed bonus go, though.

Night Silence is a great starter set! That was my first set too. Unfortunately, Stamina based classes are forced to build around Hundings right now. We really don't have any other option until a good amount of CP and Veteran leveled gear is attained, but even then Hunding's usually seems to be the go to set. Going with 2 Ashen is also a great choice in the meantime!

Just keep at it. Try and put yourself in different situations to learn from wins and loses. Become familiar with recognizing an opponents rotation/class. Eventually it will all come together. Most importantly, have FUN while challenging yourself. I can't stress that enough lol.

Yeah I went with Ashen because I'll be able to get the third-trait perk (when I can have weapons) before I'll get the 6-trait sets - just made sense. NS is a great starter set, as you say.

I've been pretty much doing everything tbh although because I'm a bit of a newb/noob and I don't have any other classes of decent level I find it hard to differentiate between classes and roles and to identify weaknesses - it'll come though.

PvP is great and a few of my friends play as well so it makes it all the better. I was playing it regularly on the non-Vet around Aug last year but I took a break from the game until recently. Now I'm Vet the PvP is just so much more fun: the main thing I like is that everyone's so willing to revive you if you die whereas in the non-Vet (even being near max-level) no one would be arsed and just let you lay there.
