Vampire feeding problem

I'm hoping you can help me with this slightly odd seeming problem.
I have a low level vampire character started at level 5, currently level 11 with vampire skills a bit over half way up 1.
My "maker" is able to feed on non hostile NPC''s but no matter how many times I try I can'tell, I get the prompt to feed by pressing B and Y but pressing them doesn't work, if I sneak up on a hostile and get the prompt I can feed no problems at all, is there something I will unlock later or is my vamp broken?

xerasia✭✭✭^ Yep, that will stop you from feeding on non-hostile NPCs. But if I recall from when I was vamp, I never got the prompt because I had attacking innocents blocked. I do know that if I tried to feed on an NPC and my sneaky eye wasn't fully closed I would have problems.Xerasia - Bosmer Magicka Templar | NA EP

bryanhaas✭✭✭✭I'll change the setting and try again later, hopefully that'll sort it.
On PS4 I get the prompt but unable to feed if prevent attacking is on. If turned off it works.PS4 NA AD GM formerly known as GM of "The Children of the Void"
